when that final second clicks off and we have won the NCG..I will be celebrating the end of quarterback bingo and that we finally have a real, QB. At some point I might even celebrate the win!
I trust that Miles/Kragthorpe will use Mettenberger to his strengths and tweak our offense to reflect that. I think Miles seems so run option happy due to the fact that is the skill set for one of our QB's. Miles does not ask JL to play to his weaknesses and I don't think he will do that with Mett. I think Miles likes a very traditional Offense: run, run, run, then play action and keep them honest. I would be surprised if we see anything different than that next season................ unless the Randall kid emerges. But from what I hear, he may have the best arm on the team.
As of right now, LSU's best chance to win is with using JL and JJ. Mett's best option right now is to watch and learn, and seize the moment when it's his time. Make no mistake about it, Miles would not have gone after an arm like that if he didn't want to throw the ball more/better. This guy is no savior, and people should quit viewing him as such. I along with everyone else look forward to seeing him play, but he'll have to wait. He ain't ready for this yet.
I have no idea how you could make that blanket statement. He's going to be great right out of the gates. We play all of our OOC games first next year and 3 of the 4 are creampuffs. Washington is our only legiit OOC opponent, they don't have a good defense right now, I don't suspect they will be great defensively next year. He's going to ramp up with the perfect schedule. We'll be able to test his greatness from the first snap of game 1. It will be up to him whether he wants to enter the NFL draft. A lot of that will have to do with how aggressive we are passing the ball. We certainly will throw it more than 21 times per game (our season average this year), not sure if we'll go nuts and all of a sudden start throwing it 30 times per game, but I hope we do. We need to be more balanced next year on offense. He will have the full arsenal of receivers back next year (unless Randle surprises us).
Les had two seniors he had already made up his mind were going to be his horses this year. No way in hell Mett had a chance at the job.
Oh hell no, we're not running the option one time next year with Mett in the game. It's in the pocket pro-style type offense all the way to a championship. Randall will handle all the option type stuff, much like a JJ. Mett is the starting QB next year, not sure what your worry is about in that regard. Who do you have pegged instead?
Well in the technical sense, yes Lee and JJ are quarterbacks. But in all honesty, they are no where near the ability of a Mettenberger. NFL Scouts will be drooling over this kid. If he does stay around for 2013, he will be a Heisman contender from day 1.
