That I cannot say with any certainty. I know CNN ran it though. So they didn't check it out either. And apparently the first mention of it was on O'Rielly, though when she was fired, she was told she would be on Beck that day. She wasn't on Beck. I know Megyn kelly did a piece on it. But I think that was the day after.
My point is that they thought they had something and it turned out to be more. They got it wrong and alot of outlets got it wrong, Im not defending anyone here, but some folks are shielding fox news as some kind of upstanding news outlet when they are not. Same level as MSNBC imo. I've never claimed either of them were the best thing since sliced bread. So its funny when I hear fair and balanced and folks beating that drum as well.
all the news outlets got it wrong when they ran just part of it, not the whole thing. if they knew there was more, they should have waited till they saw it all. it they didnt know, shame on the person (breitbart) who intentionally sent them misleading video by not sending the whole thing. as for the obama administration, they rushed to judgement. pure and simple. a very bad move on their part. as far as the naacp, that is what i have yet to figure out. it was at their event. surely someone in that organization knew what was said. i mean, why in gods name did they not ask her side or seek the whole story before throwing the woman under the bus, especially given she made the remarks at one of their events? even then, it makes no sense to say that what was aired originally of "just enough to get by" is racist, but not condeming the black panthers for what (imo) is obviously and wildy racist? nope, just dont get it.
Watching Gibbs deflect blame. "How did we not ask the right questions? How did you(media) not ask the right questions? Etc, etc. Complete bullsh!t. The media could not and did not get this woman fired. They ultimately exposed that the White House screwed this up. I know its damage control but it pisses me off.
I agree. But let's not forget that it was a conservative hack who released only a partial snippet meant to be misconstrued. It's like yelling fire in a theater when someone lights a match, then blasting the theater owners for not checking before calling the fire department. And I hear no condemnation from my conservative friends here about that.
So much misinformation. 1. I don't hate Obama because he's black. I hate him because he's a lying weasel who's trying ram through "social justice" and environmental legislation at the expense of small business and the middle class, while he has the congress to rubber stamp his agenda. 2. No one ran an edited tape. 3. Megyn Kelly ran it 1st (to my knowledge) and she ran THE ENTIRE TAPE. 4. Breitbart found out about the tape in April from an NAACP member who was there when Sherrod spoke. He sat on it for months until Ben Jealous pulled his hypocritical crap. 5. Beck and O'Reilly and Hannity ran the tape (short version) hours after Sherrod was fired. 6. Sherrod can be compared to Robert Byrd, though I never once believed Byrd was anything but a racist who like his job. Sherrod may have changed her stripes but one never knows.
I keep seeing this repeatedly brought up. Can you explain the point? The media did not report anything about it until after she was fired. It has been established that the White House and the NAACP had a complete transcript of this speech before she was fired. So what frigging impact did the media have on this woman's job? That is untrue. In the realm of accurate reporting this was a colossal screwup. One that was corrected nearly immediately. Plenty of people have acknowledged that, including O'Reilly. He ate his crow last night. Again, what impact did they have on her after she was already fired?
