used to be called,.. Blockbuster Bowl, CarQuest Bowl, MicronPC Bowl, before all that,.. the Tangerine Bowl ... I hate the name changes, tears apart tradition, and some are just ridiculous,.. the Cactus Bowl is now the Cheez-it Bowl
LSU played in the last Tangerine Bowl in 1979. It was the last game McClendon coached. Then it became the Citrus Bowl.
I got some of it wrong,.. I think you're right and wrong, BB,.. it's complicated; "Known as Blockbuster Bowl (1990-1993), Carquest Bowl (1994-1997), Micron PC Bowl (1998-2000), Tangerine Bowl II (2001-2003), Champs Sports Bowl (2004-2011), Russell Athletic Bowl (2012-2016) Camping World Bowl (2017)"... Now it's the Redbox Bowl The bowl was founded in 1990, originally played at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami. It was formed under the name Sunshine Football Classic, but was never actually contested under this name. During its Miami existence, it successively went by the names Blockbuster Bowl, CarQuest Bowl, and the MicronPC Bowl. In 2001, the bowl changed hands, and was relocated to Orlando. The bowl briefly became known as the Tangerine Bowl, a historic moniker, which was the original title of the game now known as the Citrus Bowl.
The Cheez-its Bowl is pretty bad, but that is the one snack I refuse to buy because I can't say no to them.
But my favorite, by far, is the original. It probably reminds me of eating those at my grandparents' house in New Roads when I was a youngster.
