Last year my family was visiting friends near Little Rock, AR. My friend (pig fan), my 13 year old daughter, and myself went to the Tiger-Pig game the day after Thanksgiving. We bought tickets on the street and ended up sitting on the 40 yard line in a sea of red. My daughter reached up and took my LSU cap off my head and said everyone needed to know who she was for. She let them know for sure. This year I bought tickets off ebay and she and I went to her first game in Tiger stadium. We drove all night from Dallas because neither of us could sleep. We hit BR at about 6 AM and went to eat and visit Walmart for Tiger gear. She had the hat and sweatshirt (which she wears almost every day now). We were lazy in the parking lot watching tailgaters set up until we couldn't sit anymore. We walked all around the campus, ate jambalaya, and waited for the band to come down the hill. We had a front row seat right where many of you told me to stand. The horns were close, but the golden girls were closer. It was incredible. Of course the game was exciting. It was everything I wanted for her. I hope this is a tradition we can share for many many years to come. Now I need to get my son (17) to a game. Heck, maybe he will end up going there in another year or so. Then I can come down to a few with him. Later, Mark
I don't know what is the right age, but I've waited my whole life to have my own little tiger to bring with me to the games - Right now he's 8.5 months, and I am sure Mrs. Gus will make me wait till he is at least 4 or 5....... It's killing me
My oldest son's first game was technically the UAB game that I don't care to remember. Therefore, his official first game was the Oregon State game. I could practically see the color of his blood turning from red to purple and gold. He was 7 and just about to turn 8. We were in the South end zone just a few rows from the field so he really got to soak up the full experience.
I have a 10 year old daughter a 2 1/2 year old boy who is loving the tigers he yells Geaux tigers. and a new baby boy as of friday 12/9/05 he will be a tiger as well. none of which have made a LSU game... hard from AZ. when both get old enough I plan on having them in LSU football and baseball camp.:geauxtige
Congrats on the new baby. I'm young and not married and don't have a child but my dog wears a LSU collar and has a LSU leash and she's a big fan but cannot stand it when I yell at the tv while watching games.
I dont have kids but i have a nephew who is 8 and never been. I am planning on getting our family together for a game next year. He is big time LSU fan already and i cant wait to see him at his first game. Damn i am almost crying just thinking about it. It takes me back to my first game as a kid and i can close my eyes and still remember the feeling. My first game our tickets were not all together but i got to sit on the 30 yard line just down from the band and i was close to the field. The people around me were really nice and my dad would come check on me as he was the next section down. Being a Tiger fan has been one of the joy's of my life. I feel like i am married to the Tigers because it is a till death do us part kind of thing. I know alot of you feel the same and i dont get to visit much living in Cal. but when i do it is like i am in a hallowed place. It gets in your soul and doesnt let go. When i close my eyes i can feel myself returning to outside the stadium before the game and the sounds and i get calm and at peace. It is one of those things that is hard to explain but i know i dont really have too. Any true LSU that has it in his soul knows what i am talking about. And if you dont you havnt been taking it all in when you go to the events. When you can go and feel the history and let the sounds penetrate your mind so that any where in the world you can close your eyes and think of LSU and a peace comes over you and it lifts your spirit. LSU fans are a brotherhood that will go on forever. :bncry: OK Gotta go book travel plans for next year and call my brother to figure out what game!!!
It was the 1973 Miss.State game. My son was 8 and my daughter 4. I also took them to the BAMA game which was played a few days later on Thanksgiving night. LSU & BAMA both undefeated - unfortunately BAMA won. Both my kids eventually went to LSU, but unfortunately, both finished elsewhere.
Glad you ask. So my wife and I took our 4 yr son to his first game this year. We went to the Arkansas game and man you should have seen the look on his face when the Tigers came running out of the tunnel. He was absolutely going nuts... For the fisrt half hour of the game he would just say "Daddy look its the LSU Tigers playing RIGHT here!!!!) It was awsome to see the twinkle in his eyes. It gave me goose bumps. Well he watched the whole game and cheered and houlered like his crazy dad. It was kinda quiet in our section at first but when the fellow Tiger fans saw he and I going crazy, man we had them going. I have to say this was one of the coolest things we have done together. He also loved the beach balls...But I think his favorite part was after the game we went see Mike's gage and LOVES Mike. In fact every tiger he sees is an LSU Tgier... PS He watchs every game at home with me and when the Tiger score I chest press him 7 times, so he love when they "take it to the house". :geauxtige
My 7 year-old son's first game was the Auburn game this year. He fell asleep in the 4th quarter. He was a little grouch through the OT. His second game was App St, which was also my 10 year-old daughter's first game (she took her cue from my wife and was ready to head to the mall at the end of the 1st qtr). My son's third game was Arkansas, he's hooked:hihi: These three games were my first sober experiences in Death Valley since I was 16, you guys should try it sometime
