Definitely frustrating with all that talent...

Even on that series in OT, not sure why Crowton decided to get cute with running the wildcat, especially after Scott had a decent run on 1st down. I know you can't always avoid a 3rd and long, but it seems it could have been avoided there. Why not let Scott run again on 2nd down?

Indeed. Crowton just can't open up the playbook like he would like to. He is very limited. As much as Lee reeks, we can't forget the fact the he is a red shirt freshman, playing in the SEC. And, last night, playing against a defensive mastermind in Saban. Thats a tall order to fill, and a very ruff spot to be in. I'm sure he was scared sh*tless.

We couldnt run for $hit in the second half. What was it, something like 50 yards on 20 carries in the 2nd half? They stuffed our run after halftime.

the wildcat can work if you quit calling the same play from the formation. shake it up a bit.

Because it was obvious we weren't going to get much done passing in the 2nd half.

Why not put JJ in the game on that play and use him as a decoy?
Or just let him hand the ball off or surely he can throw that little dump pass to the left to Dixon?
Just do something different to get Bama a little off guard and possibly thinking a little too much?

Ive always felt when you play not to lose, you deserve to lose. LSU was doing well when their backs were against the wall. When they were mixing the run/pass on first and second. Lee does much better, he lead LSU on a great drive to tie the game. I totally agree, dont all of a sudden get ultra conservative and have two predicatable runs. Which puts Lee in third and long where he HAS to throw. The D knows its coming. Same thing in OT. Lee was horrible, but the coaching was worse. Not bringing in Jefferson for a spark and the play calling in the final minutes.

Crowton is a wizard. His current problem is he is trying too hard to be that wizard, rather than coaching to his talent or lack there of. The receivers arent playing well either. The first INT was a bad pass but its Byrds fault it was intercepted. Crowton is coaching like he would if he had a dynamic QB. Right now we cant get the corner, yet when the middle is well established he is still tryin too hard to get the corner. Last year he could call basically what he wanted because Flynn was a much more established QB. Right now LSU should be a pound the middle, establish the run. Use some play actiong to throw on first or second down afterwards. Not putting us in a must throw third and long. Not the strength of Lee.
