This is in regards to the last offensive series in regulation for LSU. LSU had the ball at the 14 with about 3 minutes to go. We had a decision to make. Either get real aggressive and try to win this game with a FG/TD or play it safe and take our chances. As badly as Lee played, you just can't put him in a 3rd and obvious passing situation, AGAIN. That's exactly what LSU did. Ran it twice. Had a very uncomfortable Lee waiting for an all out blitz which ultimately caused him to throw an erratic pass to an otherwise open Dickson.
Tolliver had his man beat on that 3rd down as well. but in that situation everything to the sideline is going to be covered, which means Lee will have to throw over the middle which he obvioulsy sucks at. you can ill afford another pick six with 2 minutes left in a tie ball game. I thought the wild tiger play on 2nd and long in overtime was pretty stupid. that and the opening drive of the 3rd quarter are the only playcalls i had a problem with.
believe me I feel the same way as you do. I was sick on that attempt of a drive. but the old saying is " at home you play for OT" just did not work tonite
Look, Crowton isn't the wizard some think he is. He's not bad, but he's not a wizard. He's had Lee as his QB for several games and still doesn't know his strength or when to call decent pass plays. It wasn't until the 4th quarter that the roll out plays to Toliver came in. Against UGA, before going into the half, Crowton called a rollout and Lee threw a pick, which killed the momentum LSU had. Had they continued to run, we score. Frustrating.
In his defense, he obviously doesn't have much to work with. Lee is struggling to manage a damn screen.
This is true. Crowton has a tough time calling his arsenal of plays with all the weapons we have and a QB that has no confidence right now.
