Ted Cruz to oversee NASA??? http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/6456270 Is David Duke going to oversee the NAACP now too? What the fuck man. Science just got leveled in this country. This is utterly ridiculous.
First of all, he's a politician. Next on deck, he is not a "denier" of science. He believes in putting funding toward hard science like actual space exploration as opposed to soft science like global warming. He believes the Russians have killed progress with the international space station. Lastly, Johnson Space Center is in Texas. He just secured new jobs for his home state.
You mean like climate science? Plenty of hard evidence backing that up, and his dumb ass denies it. This is a travesty.
What's that got to do with sending rockets into space? There are scientists on both sides of the climate change issue.
Broham, let's slow down a sec. The fiscal budget for NASA is developed a year in advance and is a request. Therefore, 2015's proposed budget came from the Democratic controlled Congress which has been cutting that budget for quite a while. And it's fact that the two biggest reductions currently on the table are Earth Science (climate) and Education. I was personally very disappointed to see the SOFIA project get cancelled. I have a good friend who has worked on it for years and they have accomplished so much. If anything, Cruz will fight for more money, not less. Even if it comes in the form of Solar exploration or other planetary study, space travel, that helps educate.
True, NASA needs an administrator, not a rocket scientist. True, Cruz is a ideologue politician without a hint of a clue and the patron saint of science deniers. The administration has been privatizing space exploration which is normally right out of the right-wing cookbook . . . unless Obama does it . . . in which case he must be criticized for cutting government spending. It so hard to take the Republicans seriously,
You can't privatize space exploration. If you do then some greedy money hungry corporation is going to try to sneak and Alien back to earth and all hell is going to break loose. But for real, I'm not even sure what NASA is doing right now besides taking temperature readings and issuing climate reports.
