http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/14/us/politics/14obama-text.html Why thank you Mr. President. My name is Jeremy Mr. President. I see. Go on... Why yes Mr. President, I would love to dance. We are dancing Mr. President, you say the sweetest things. Oh I agree Mr. President. This vision is less about reducing the deficit than it is about changing the basic social compact in America. Ronald Reagan's own budget director said, there's nothing "serious" or "courageous" about this plan. There's nothing serious about a plan that claims to reduce the deficit by spending a trillion dollars on tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires. And I don't think there's anything courageous about asking for sacrifice from those who can least afford it and don't have any clout on Capitol Hill. That's not a vision of the America I know. Mr. President, the things you say... Now we are really dancing Mr. President. Well said Mr. President. excellent point Mr. President. I totally agree Mr. President, and I bet most Americans feel the same. Amen Sir. Yea that was a bone-headed move when you did that Sir. I'm glad to see you have come around. Mr. President, we are really dancing now. For real? It really is the lowest in a half century? Ok, Too bad none of this is ever going to happen because we have a President that talks a great game but doesn't back it up. This is the guy who vowed to be there on the picket lines with workers that were threatened with the stripping of collective bargaining rights, This is the guy who vowed to end the Bush Tax Cuts for the wealthiest Americans, now twice. This is the same guy who now has us in 3 wars, after vowing to end them. This is the same guy who has the lowest tax rate in 50 years. This is the same guy who abandoned the public option giving insurance companies more power. All of this sounds awesome but it will never happen. We will continue to go down this same path where and the gap will grow wider. The rich will continue to see growth and stability, while the rest of America will crumble. Now, I'm sure there is probably about 4 people out of a couple hundred that agree with me on these issues on this site, but that isn't a shocker. We are all from a Red state. (sorry Red). How does America feel about these issues. Most Americans say tax rich to balance budget: poll | Reuters what is that you say? Most Americans feel that the rich should be taxed more? But apparently the right knows better. For some reason they feel that the same old tired ways, of reverse robin hoodism, is the way to a more prosperous America. This has not worked, and in fact is the reason we are in this debt crisis to begin with. It does not trickle down. It does not create jobs. This is a lie. So, nice way to start the morning, fire away chaps.
Let me put the speech in simple terms: Bush got us into this mess and I'm going to increase taxes to get us out.
The NY Times and Vanity Fair, two of the most unbiased organizations ever to exist. Scott Rasmussen disagrees 74% Say They Should Pay No More Than 20% of Their Income in Taxes - Rasmussen Reports™
Anyone with a brain sees through the attempts to make this a class warfare issue. The things he fails to mention are the folks he wants to tax more already pay the highest effective rates, and pay a larger percentage of the tax pie than they receive from the income pie. I found parts of the speech to be very good, but too much of it was predicated on blaming the prior administration and not being accoutable for his own historic spending increases.
Guess it was a good thing I didn't quote a ny times poll. It was a Reuters one. but here is a gallup one too. Only 1 in 3 Americans Favor Keeping Tax Cuts for Wealthy | The Big Picture
So you are trying to insult me by calling me someone who has gotten more pu$$y than everyone on this board combined? Thanks :thumb:
Nice try slurpy. It was a refrence to a once popular urban legend. Its above your head and below your belt. I wouldn't expect you to understand.
