man please, thats like saying im not racist because "this race of people" visited my house this weekend.... He's a racist, just like Jackson and Sharpton.
I don't think he is. His agenda is political. His ideas are contrary to what blacks may think is in their best interests, but, again, that doesn't make him a racist. Jackson (not so much Sharpton) is a narcissist and is only interested in furthering the interests of Jesse Jackson. Sharpton is actually very smart, likeable and well intentioned but I think he needs to do a better job of picking his battles.
its obvious rush was making light of jesse jackson's accusation. that was the entire irony of his point.
You have to credit him for putting money where his mouth is, and spending all that money to make the Yankees builder. But, at the same time, let's not forget how more often than not, his moves backfired and his team won despite his interfence. When he was running the Yankees day to day, they were terrible- they were really bad throughout the 80s to the mid 90s till you had that nucleus of Jeter, Rivera, Posado, Williams that dominated the late 90s and won all those championships. Without those championship years, George isn't as remembered as fondly today. But, those championships happened because George had been banned for life from baseball that second time. When that announcement was made at Yankees stadium, the Yankees fans gave that news a standing ovation. During that time when he was forced out, the Yankees were able to rebuild their farm system with Jeter, Rivera, etc. players. But, if George had been running the Yankees, he would have traded those prospects like he's always done with the Yankee prospects. And, then there's the whole shadiness with hiring a gambler to try to bring down one of his own players, Dave Winfield, that's why he can never be considered the best owner in sports. That's why he was banned the second time for life from baseball.
