You mentioned earlier in the thread, and I <gasp> agree with you, that the matchup that would swing things in LSU's favor is LSU's DL vs WVU's OL. What is the issue with the WVU OL? Size? Experience? Talent? LSU's DL isn't big by any means, just really fast and a lot of, albeit young, talented guys.
He never leaves...don't worry. Bastid's on here at 3 am starting new threads and pumping his post count by talking to himself.
Man they were horrible in the Marshall game. Marshall played the game of their lives but no way in hell our line should have been on their back like they were. For the most part our pass protection has been decent in every game. It played very well against MD. Devine has had 100 yards in every game behind a subpar line. If they have progressed as much between game 3 and 4 as they did between 2 and 3 Devine will go off this game. I really hope we line up with our big FB Clark in the I and pound it at that defense of yours and see he is standing at the end.
Our Oline has struggled since RRod left. It's bad. Horrible really. Pass protect seems decent...but run blocking can't be excused. If you guys own our line (and Geno can't work) then this game is over. Done. Marshall...yep Marshall....stuffed our offense for 3 and 1/2 quarters...
To be honest, the strength of our DL is flat out speed. It is not a real run stuffing DL, so Jester's proposed strategy is probably the smart thing to do. A couple of weeks ago, we realized what we had in this DL, but we also presume it'll be susceptible to a BIG back and power running team. Good thing for us, that only means Bama this year. But if you guys could establish something with Clarke, you could be onto something. Like I said in another post, most of us LSU fans know about Devine...and that's it. I've just recently begun to hear of Clarke. Geno does seem like a solid QB, but I really don't see him having much time back there.
What I cant get is how you guys keep talking about who we have beaten this year... Who has LSU beaten? NC had to ask the local high school to help fill their roster since the lost their entire d line and secondary. Vandy help tight till the last quarter. I have no idea about the MSU game except what I have heard from you guys on here. None of those teams are going to set the world on fire.
What are you talking about? I didn't say anything about who WVU has beaten...and I just stated that the reason LSU had such a phenomonal day of returns against UNC is because they had guys playing that haven't played.
not sure if you know this or not, but UNC -- even with the players they had sitting out -- still fielded a defense that averaged better than 3.5 stars. their backups were still better than a lot of other teams' starters -- including marshall and coastal carolina.
