Red will be here shortly to help you, if needed. He usually breaks in about now to administer the last sacrament. *tiga grabbing anointing oil*
I don't know what you're sayin'... ....I guess I'm about to be banned for not considering one of your more vocal posters not so special?
Back to football. Before about the last 2 pages of dribble, someone posted about Peterson taking one back cause our return coverage was bad. Not this year. So far it is one of the most improved units in the country. Not saying its the best in the country, saying its the most improved. Had last years kick off team been coming to LA I would willing admit you guys would smoke us. Your offense would never get on the field cause Peterson would take every kick to the house. He would be the only player to touch the ball. Our coverage was horrible. Coach Stewart fired himself as ST coach and we are much improved. We have 3 kickers. Bittencourt for FG's, some kid from Alabama that kicks off, and a punter that is pretty decent. yes we have smurfs for wr's. Think of it this way. The LSU defense is Gargomel and our wrs are the smurfs. he never could catch them. Even when he did they ALWAYS got away!!! LOL
that was me and my humble attempt at talking smack. i just don't do it, because i don't have a complex that makes me feel like i have to hide behind a college football team. i love LSU and if we lose 124232344 - 0 i will still love LSU. but it is what it is... :hihi:
I wrote that. I read it on a write up that a WVU writer wrote in a blog. But he was talking about the recent past...he didn't get into how they were this season. UNC was clearly atrocious...likely because they were having to play guys on special teams that normally don't sniff the field. Not only Peterson that night, but Randle nearly housed one too. I think we averaged over 50 yds/return...punt and kickoff. Vandy seemed to have the formula to shut it down on punts. PP didn't get many chances at all. They were kicking short and with plenty of hang time. MSU didn't fare so well...but luckily for them, they rarely punted. They chose the interception strategy instead. Of course, PP ran one of those back 50 yds. He's like Devine in that, he'll get his one was or another. I think PP is the bigger factor though since he returns punts, kicks, and interception opportunities. (Talking about from a game changing/momentum swinging perspective)
Not only did Stew fire himself as special teams coach they put some defensive starters and some offensive speed guys on our kickoff teams to cover. We cover much better. Last year we had to hold our breath on every kick... waiting to see if the other team was going to take it to the house. Our d was a lot better than it seemed. They just kept having to defend a 50-60 yard field instead of a 70-80 yard field.
