There is just as much liquor as there was before, I see flasks all game long. What has changed is the people sitting around me.

I have to hand it to your band. They were fun to watch.

i think no one thinks it's as loud as when they were a student.

the student section plays a part in that cuz it's louder there.

but being a student under the dinardo era, i enjoyed those crowds more. with a team that was mediocre but coming off the hallman years, the games like "bring back the magic vs #5 AU", vs UF #1 in 97, etc those crowds seemed to be hungrier and more befitting the name death valley.

two things that have arisen to kill the crowd is:
    1) the price of doing business. it costs more to go to games now. TAF, ticket hikes, etc. are moving towards or have already arrived at "pricing the regular fans out of the seats".

    2) success

there are sometimes in tiger stadium when the crowd, the atmosphere become its own entity. i hate to use the phrase "12th man" but that's what its like.

the crowd actually feels like part of the team.

somewhere along the line, the crowd just became the crowd. and a bunch of critics. it was "look what we did there, we stopped 'em" and became "look what you did there, another bad playcall"

it's a separation i can't really put into words. i think got rolling when miles was hired, but really hit its stride in 08.

that said, LSU vs UF 2007 was one of the best crowds i've ever witnessed.

but instead of crowds like that happening a couple of times a year, they now happen once every few years.

but i also thought music, tv, movies, etc were all better at previous times in my life so take this with a grain of salt.

Yes, they were very impressive. I remember hearing boos when they came on the field and thought the fans were practicing for later in the night. :)

    Hey Tigers,
I was at the game .
Overall the fan base was great I only ran into 2 fans that talked flipped us off. I dont understand why the guys that talked the most smack left at half time and never came back . The LSU fans I tailgated with said that a lot of fans leave to beat the crowd. The tiger bait chant from the younger kids along the route was awesome and I mean 9 to 12 year olds ( of all thing this was pretty cool). I think the stadium was pretty loud but man the boos was pretty bad. Ive seen the boos at our home games also but man when that place boo's its loud. My fan experience was awesome great ppl awesome food good times and met some new friends . Good luck tigers with your season.

Thanks man. Glad you were able to take the 'Tiger Bait' chants with a grain of salt. Unless you're a hated rival, which of course you're not, they really are just good natured ribbing. Unfortunately, some of the WV fans near us didn't share your outlook.

As I'm sure you've experienced, traffic leaving the game is legendarily atrocious. So unless you're a rival and it's a close game, alot of folks choose to leave early to beat it. Otherwise, it's 2 hours bumper to bumper unless you tailgate afterwards and let the traffic die down.

As for the booing, most people think that was directed at our QB. And as classless as I think booing college kids is, I think most of those were directed at our coaching staff for running the same plays over and over again.

Glad you had a good time. Good luck the rest of the way.

I don't think one game is a good comparison in crown noise between now and 15-20 years ago. I've been to some VERY loud games in the past few years. It's all in who we play and how the game is going.

Serious here, if the seats are close to 1K but that doesn't include the tickets, what's the 1K for?

I scared to ask the burning question here.
