100% agree. Companies "donate" to get a tax write off, while getting tickets for their money and just give them to employees.
I guess...I don't make a lot of money, neither does my friends. But we all save our money in a cookie jar and pay for our tickets. But I can see people not wanting to pay or not being able to pay. I just think that the tickets are not unreasonably priced, and most choose not to pay the money when that money can go to other things they rather spend it on.
price my bro-in-law payed to renew his Saints season ticket = $300 per seat price to renew our LSU tickets this year = $1250 per seat.
whenever i am fortunate enough to make it to a game, i tend to yell as loud as i can on defense and participate in the cheers. on offense, i usually sit down and shut up. but when we're on defense, i'm standing the entire time and yelling. it's a shame, i remember when the games used to be rowdy. i started following LSU football religiously in the 90s when i was around 12 years old. those teams back then weren't much, but the games were ALWAYS fun. i just think a good portion of our fanbase is jaded and unrealistic.
Wish I was an employee. I had ticket on the 10 yard line about half way up. It got over my head price wise and had to let them go.
Come on, it's become more of a social gathering than a football game, and i'm not talking about the tailgating. They sell f'n sushi for christ's sake. That should tell you what you need to know right there. My Grandpa, (R.I.P.) used to work his ass off for hardly anything and would take all of us to the game, about 6 cousins. There is no way i could even think about bringing six people to the game. With gas prices, food prices, ticket prices, parking, i'm telling you, it's a mini vacation coming from out of town. We had to drive back last night after because a hotel room would have been another 100 bucks. LSU football used to be a way of life in this state. Now it's a business.
I'm not seeing a whole lot of that. Most confirmed Tiger fans I know, blue-collar types included, find a way to pay for the tickets. Me, I cut loose my basketball season tickets. Some times a man just has to sell his buoy for Tiger football. :hihi: I think television has changed the crowd. People with small kids, arthritic knees, wives that melt in the rain, long drives from North Louisiana, etc. . . . those folks used to just suck it up and come to the games. Now, when every game is on high-def on the big screen in the living room a lot of fans are choosing to scream in their living rooms with their chums just like most of us do for road games. SabanFan is a raucous supporter, it's just hard to hear him from Breaux Bridge.
but i don't think it's the same. being at the game is just otherworldly... or, i guess it used to be.
