As one visitor to New Orleans to another (I am from Boston, get down there once or twice a year, not often enough), go to Jacques Imo's. It is a pretty good schlep from the Quarter, but right on the St Charles streetcar line. You get to see a good chunk of the Garden District on the train ride over and the food is great. If you have time, stop at the Columns Hotel on St Charles for a drink on the porch.
The bang to hype ratio did not meet my expectations for Mother's..... I have always been a fan of Acme Oyster Bar. Get a dozen raw oysters then chase them with a dressed shrimp poboy. :geauxtige:geauxtige :geauxtige:geauxtige
Well if you find yourself wanting to stray away form the Quarter, take the streetcar (or drive) down St. Charles to Carrollton. You will find Camelia Grill there: The Camellia Grill - A New Orleans Landmark Comfort food at its finest. I'll chime in on Mother's, I love it. Best bread pudding the world WITHOUT QUESTION. Anyone believe people in other parts of the country think and talk about food as much as we do. I'll be over at my in-laws for Sunday lunch and the topic of conversation is primarily what woould be good to cook that evening!!!!!!
