:geaux: Don't know how illegal it was, but I enjoyed reading the part that said he'd been "recruited by coaches from coast to coast for a couple of years now". :LSU231:

I think the starters will be Toliver and DPeterson with Benton, Tolliver and Mitchell being available as 3rd and 4th options. Some Holliday in there as well if he stays with the team.

    Shepard in the slot.

I can understand the frustration, but the updates are a result of fans/reporters, not anything he has caused.

It seems silly to think ill of a kid because of the inherent meat market of the process. I think he is managing to survive it, rather than stringing us along, or enjoying the attention. Every single person that has had contact with him has reported how shy he really is. I do not believe this to be an act.

Evidence that he won't be announcing on ESPN, or have some big ass press conference. He is just going to submit his choice. Doesn't sound like someone that wants the limelight to me.

I'm actually fine with it. It annoys me, but the truth is, it's a trade off. They get to act like little boys and milk the process and build their egos up but when their football career finishes, they get discarded by programs and coaches and fans. It's all part of the trade off. There's positives and negatives. People write great articles about them one week then tear into them the next.

Don't misunderstand, I hate watching a recruit have five hats on the table and milk the situation for all it's worth, but it is what it is and there is a downside to what they are doing too.

    WOW.

Proof positive that he's probably smarter than the lot of you.

Exactly how is he stringing LSU along? Couldn't the same be said for EVERY OTHER SCHOOL IN THE COUNTRY who would find a way to kick a kid off the team if it meant an extra scholarship to get Randle.

It's amazing because he's the total opposite of what is being portrayed by some posters. If only some of you could be a fly on the wall to see how quiet and unassuming this kid is amongst his peers. He's a proven leader on the field, but in non-football related things, he's practically a recluse.

Futhermore, if a recruit has the legal right to take official visits, paid for by the university, and they really are not sure of where they want to go, why shouldn't they take their time and make a choice? Why shouldn't they enjoy this time? These kids are going to help the universities earn millions of dollars, none of which will go into their pockets.

My goodness. I could see if the kid committed to LSU, then decided to take visits and left the university in limbo like a certain other 5* (even then it's a little harsh to call them a primadonna). But RR hasn't even indicated any one school is in the lead for his services. Geez...

Exactly. So many want to criticize a kid who is getting all sorts of attention from colleges that he grew up watching. So its easy to see why they would play it for what its worth. If thats indeed what he is doing. I cant understand how a kid from La wouldnt be all LSU, but some arent. I agree its more childish how quick people are to chastize a kid for weighing their options. Best wishes if its not LSU. Which I really hope it is.

It's the hype of Rivals and Scout, Bayou Bash, and sites like this one that generate the hollywood atmosphere. Hell, when we were in college signing day was when recruits started to commit and signing continued all spring. Every recruit took his visits and took his time in choosing a college.

I can't blame a kid who tunes out all the distractions and takes his own damn time to make a big damn decision.

    Re: Rueben Randle

Well blame that on the interested mass, not Randle.

He has kept everything tight lipped, he did not involve himself in the recruiting wars until AFTER his season was over, and he is carefully weighing his options.

Frankly, I would have done the same thing, i.e., wait out the QB situation at LSU and see what kind of situation he is getting himself into at that school. He has watched Jefferson play 2 very effective games now and LSU has come through satisfactorily as a place where he can excel.

You can certainly tune out this thread and wait patiently until he decides. He never asked anyone to get emotionally caught up in his recruitment. He simply wants to make sure he is making the best decision possible, a decision that will impact him financially in the very near future (i.e., the NFL).
