Re: Rueben Randle I think he's got the tools, to be sure. I've been impressed by him since early last year. But we have to see what he can do against a REAL defense before we can honestly say he's ready. We'll see after tonight. But I digress. Forgive me for thread-jacking. So how are things with RR? :thumb:
Re: Rueben Randle So should we be rooting for Oklahoma so Bradford will go pro so RR will have more incentive to come here?
Re: Rueben Randle Bradford is projected to go #1 right now to Detroit. That might be his incentive to stay in school another year! LOL. Of course that could change depending on the combine IF he declares. But if I was him, aside from the rookie salary cap, I'd look at the last time a guy won the National title and the Heismann AND was projected to go #1 overall...his name is Matt Leinart. He came back for his senior season because he was having too much fun, lost the Heisman to his teammate, lost the national championship, dropped to #10 overall because the guy who smoked him in the title game was the first QB taken, and pretty much sucks right now. His future is an appearance as The Bachelor after the Cards draft another QB to replace Kurt Warner. I truly believe that senior year rocked his confidence and he's yet to recover.
Re: Rueben Randle I thought the same thing. Then I thought about the 10-15 million dollars he could possibly lose (or a lot more) by coming back. Bottom line. When you're projected to be a 1st round pick, you declare. PERIOD. School isn't going anywhere and you can always come back and finish while your 50 million dollars accrues at 6%.
Re: Rueben Randle Yes, ala Matt Leinhart. Had he left in 04, he would have stood to make so many more millions with much more guaranteed money as a #1 overall selection, versus the #11 pick he ended up in the 2006 draft. Very similiar paths here and I think that Bradford is very aware of this.
Re: Rueben Randle I would play football in sierra leone for number one overall money. That shouldn't deter him at all.
Re: Rueben Randle I think this "#1 pick" status is somewhat predicated on a good showing vs. Florida tonight. I personally think Florida is going to make him cry, much like LSU did Brady Quinn, and lower his stock. What then?
Re: Rueben Randle Yes, totally agree. And that's why the caveat of waiting til AFTER the game, which is what Bradford has allegedly said. If Bradford is made to look silly with pressure, then his stock could plummet quick.
Re: Rueben Randle It will be interesting. One thing that has always stood out to me and impressed me about Bradford is his pocket presence and that he always seems to be playing in slow motion.
Re: Rueben Randle I forgot this was a Reuben Randle thread. lol Sorry about the side tracking. Back to Mr. Randle.
