Re: Rueben Randle Stud recruits in that area and recruits him as well but McCarthy takes a firm stance in his recruiting b/c he is the WR coach.
Re: Rueben Randle Exactly how good is McCarthy as a WR coach? If RR is concerned about coaching, I hope he's up to snuff, or else it can have a significant neg impact on WR recruiting...
Re: Rueben Randle I haven't seen a great deal of drop off since McCarthy took over last season. The receivers still block well on the edges. The main thing was Byrd sleepwalking through the season. I think McCarthy could obviously use improvement on the motivation side of things. Maybe he is not good at psychology.
Re: Rueben Randle I would disagree with this. It must have been twice a game last year the WR's were lined up wrong and it cost us a penalty. Brought back a couple of big plays too. It was much better this year though, I'll give him that but I pretty much wrote that dude off after last year.
Re: Rueben Randle I get that the kid is special, but how many RS Sophomores have gone on to the NFL and been successful? Out of curiosity...Soph. or not, where does he stand in the QB class? I ask because I really don't think he'll declare.
Re: Rueben Randle That last projection I saw he was ranked higher than Stafford. Well of they win tonight, he'll have won the heisman, and the national championship, he'll have nothing to stay for, and his stock will never be higher, I think he's gone anyway.
Re: Rueben Randle It makes sense for him to go since next year the O-Line will be in rebuilding mode. His stock will drop if he comes back, for sure. I think he'll be the second or third QB selected if he declares this year. As far as the success of RS So. declaring, I don't know. But I believe all NFL QBs were Sophmores at some point during college, right? If you asked me do I believe he can suit up next year and pull a Matt Ryan I'd say no, but it's pretty obvious to me he's going to be a really solid QB at the next level.
Re: Rueben Randle That's a fair point, but if he projects as the highest QB in this class, with the looming rookie salary cap, he has to go. It's just pure lunacy to not cash in a lottery ticket before it expires. But I am sure that Stafford is praying you are correct!
