    Re: Rueben Randle

It's supposedly in today's Times-Pic, but it stops short of saying it was Randle. It just says a Bastrop blue-chip recruit. It could have been Josh Downs for all we know.

It's far from implausible. LSU is huge in North LA, too and Saban is a good recruiter who has repeatedly indicated that he bears no ill will towards LSU or LSU fans. Turning the mom down would probably not look too good in the eyes of the mom and her son who he is recruiting.

I would sign a football that said "LSU sucks" it I thought it might keep me in the good graces with the #1 player in the country.

I don't think Randle stays in school for 4 years no matter where he goes.

I saw two people say that it is in the paper version of today's Times Picayune, in Peter Finney's column.

They both agree that it says:

"He told the story of life on the recruiting trail, about a recent visit with a Bastrop blue-chipper whose mother asked Saban if he would do her the favor of signing a football.
    Yes, he would.
Would he mind signing, "Go Tigers"?
    Why not?
"Geaux Tigers," wrote the Alabama coach."

Like MLUTiger stated above, it could have been Josh Downs for all we know.

    Times Picayune, Brotha.

And I think it is a safe assumption that it was RR and not Downs.

Yea, you won't get much information from RR.

Thank goodness he didn't do what the #1 5-star recruit from Michigan did by coming out and saying that he cut Michigan and that he is going out-of-state. Didn't some people think that guy was a Michigan lock? I wonder what the meltdown is like on the Michigan boards right now.

Yep. I think a lot of guys who play the "wait and see" card are just saying that to get people off their back, but Randle gives the impression that he's been so focused on his football season that he really hasn't given much thought to where he's going to college.
