Re: Rueben Randle I was just trying to make a point, I really could not care less McKnight chose USC. One player does not make a team. If he was really bothered by the whole process and worried about his safety, which I find hard to believe, he could have went about it a different way. If he were really undecided and taking his time then that's one thing, but it had been hinted towards the end he was a silent commit to USC for a while. There are a number of recruits that go to out of state schools even though a big time program is in their back yard. Why doesn't Shepard keep a Texas school in the running just to appease the fans? Texas fans must not care as much I guess. Or LSU fans are just dick heads.
Re: Rueben Randle Norwood of Biloxi, MS (Rivals 4-star) just committed to Bama two days ago. That's one less WR spot Bama needs to fill. Bama's other WR commit in this class is Michael Bowman from Georgia (Rivals 4-star). In 2008, they signed four WRs: Julio Jones (Rivals 5-star), Melvin Ray (Rivals 4-star), Destin Hood (Rivals 4-star), and Chris Jackson (Rivals 3-star).
Re: Rueben Randle The media reported about the lack of discipline. They talked about the players/player talking back to the coach etc. The also reported that Miles is not so hands on with a kid once he gets to the school. He recruits well, makes sure they practice, but the rest he leaves up to them. And some kids need more direction than that. This is not me flaming just repeating things I have read in the papers and on ESPN.
Re: Rueben Randle Well I hope he thickened up that skin before diving into the biggest media market in the world.
Re: Rueben Randle Miles is similar to Pete Carroll in that they are both regarded as "player's coaches." Here's an article from a guy that talked about Miles' reputation as a player's coach ("Miles is known as a player’s coach which basically means he expects the players to follow the rules and work hard. Be self motivated in other words because you’re an adult you have to achieve what you want. ... I view Les Miles as an above average coach that tends to be too close to his players and for some that may create a problem because a player may confuse his standing with the coach. What Miles has to remember that these are just kids and some not as mature as others.") Yet, he said this about Saban: What Saban failed to do [at LSU] was instill the necessary discipline that a program needs. There were many incidents that occurred that were not made public and had an impact on the continuity of the program from within. That is why the Saban teams would overall have an above average success with 8, 9 wins season not counting the championship year. http://community.foxsports.com/blog...iles_An_Honest_Dissection_by_an_LSU_Supporter
