    Re: Rueben Randle

Bama ran more than threw the ball due to personnel. We had a great OL and good RB's. Our WR was a problem. Julio Jones was the only reliable receiver in our QB's eyes.
JPW was a safe college QB. he could manage a game and minimize mistakes. His biggest down fall was his inability to check down to the 2 or 3 WR option.
As far as next year goes Greg McElroy will start. The book on him: he knows the playbook like the back of his hand, better pure passer than JPW was, More moble than JPW was, he just needs to work on his decision making. McElroy will be a redshirt sophmore next season. He also played behind Chase Daniel(Missouri), he waited 3 years before he could start. Then as a senior he just broke the state of TX single season records in completions, TD's, Yardage. Bama's QB situation will be better than most think.

So your assesment was not quite right.

Alabama's biggest need this off season is a WR because the plan is to throw the ball more and become a more balanced team. If you were a Bama fan you would here the press confrances. This season they only scrached the top of the passing game playbook, because JPW could not handle it. The coaches plan to use the spread more this playbook has been here since Applewhite came in Saban's first year. Do not kid yourself and think what you saw this year is all Bama will do, Run,Run,Run, oh no things will change.
Thats why Saban is after WR and RR is the guy that can step right in and produce as a #1.

I hope this sheds some light on what will be changing over our way. And also congats on the recruting LSU has put together so far, looks hard to beat.

Bamas built to run the ball. They likely wouldn't be a pass-first team if Colt was their QB.

Combine that with the conservative nature of the coach.. and an inexperienced QB stepping in.. and you're probably looking at another season of running the ball 65% of the time.

Again another wrong impression. Bama was built for the run from the Shula group. It is taking time for the Saban group get the players they need. Saban himself has said this over the 2 years at the school. I am not saying Bama will not run, just that the passing playbook is much larger and will be used more and more each year as we get the players that can handle it.
john Parker Wilson could not run the offense that Applewhite brought over. Again as we get the personel Bama will get a different look.

Actually BMY said the same thing you just said. Experience and roster will keep Bama run oriented at least another year.

I guarantee Bama will NOT average 200 yards passing per game next season.

Trust me. Bama will pass more each year for the next few years.

If anything I'd expect them to pass less next year. I'm just looking through recruits and looking at the types of players you're recruiting.. Bama looks to continue to be a playaction passing team.

There's nothing wrong with doing something really well.

Less. Maybe on the order of 160-170 ypg.

That's not something Randle can be looking forward too, especially with one already established receiver taking away a lot of the looks.

He can come to LSU and be a star instantly if he puts his mind to it. And LSU will throw for 215-240 ypg.

I mean what is the deal? Are you paying attention or reading previous posts or just jumping to conclusions?

I mentioned Greg McElroy only because JohnLSU had him confused with AJ McCarron (a recruit we will sign this year). Even then, islstl assumed he was talking about JPW.

In every post I even mention McElroy's name, you guys are quick to talk about how Jarrett Lee has the same capabilities and how it will be so much different and pretty much saying that McElroy will fail ONLY because Jarrett Lee failed miserably this year. He will not be a freshman but a RSJ. There is a HUGE difference there...

    Daryll Clark at PSU...
    Jevan Snead at OM...
    Russell Wilson of NC St...
    Robert Griffin of Baylor...
    Tony Pike at Cincy...
    Kellen Moore of Bosie St...

Just take a gander at those guys career stats before they became the perm signal callers for their squads this year.

Just because Jarrett Lee sucks, doesn't spell doom for Greg McElroy. :thumb:
