Re: Rueben Randle I didn't say that McCarron would start as a freshman-or a sophomore for that matter. Simply stating that we have a very good QB already commited in the same class as Randle.
Re: Rueben Randle AJ is a long way from a SEC starter at QB, 6' 4", 180...as a senior went 4-7 never scoring over 28 points in a game...At least Freddie Kitchen had a little weight to him and could drink beer like Cliff from Cheers. And by the way, committed is spelled with 2 t's in the rest of the United States.
Re: Rueben Randle I just don't think Saban would allow his team to turn into a 300 ypg passing team. He likes his safe running game and stout defense.
Re: Rueben Randle You dont think that after 2 years in a college weight room, he would put on some weight? Again, I didnt' say he would start as a true freshman. :rolleye33: Destin Hood, Ivan Matchett, and Mark Barron among others graduated from his HS last year. Pretty hard to replace players like that and keep a great record. 2007 Junior Stats: 145 completions from 232 attempts for 2,540 yards and 26 touchdowns with only three interceptions 2006 Soph. Stats: McCarron passed for over 1,900 yards, 25 touchdowns and four interceptions. Almost every recruiting guru says that his arm strength and mechanics are very very good. Putting on weight isn't hard.
Re: Rueben Randle I always felt that JPW was one of the more accurate passers. Personally, I think JPW was under appreciated for his role this year. He made very few mistakes and seemed to put the ball on the money on many occasions.
Re: Rueben Randle Excellent point. We as LSU fans thought Matt Flynn was a pretty good quarterback, nothing special. Boy, could we have used that "ok" quarterback this season.
Re: Rueben Randle McCarron was one of the top 2 pro-style QB's our coaches evaluated (our QB, Garrett was the other) early in the year. You guys got a good one.
Re: Rueben Randle Thank you, CParso...for not being the 1up'r as most of these guys are. IMO I think that McCarron just might be the best QB that will ever wear crimson. Like I said, every good player puts on weight (or takes off weight--see Terrance Cody) when they get to college and get into that strength and conditioning program and/or are paired with a nutritionist.
