Re: Rueben Randle In my estimation, LSU! was never out of it. I think the trepidation comes in the fact that a program like  EXPECTS to have the homestate locked up, especially a recruit of Randle's caliber who you take whether you need him or not. This is not a situation like Mississippi, Florida, or Alabama where there are other big programs to have legitimate worry about. Well, scratch Mississippi, since they definitely don't have their state locked-up even with two SEC and one C-USA school. Alabama has legitimate in-state competition from Auburn. Florida has Miami and FSU, along with a rising South Florida program to compete with. Who passes up LSU scholly to play football at Tulane? Anyway, the fact that Rueben was so quiet the whole time, plus the fact that he's given no indication of an LSU lean scares people. For the longest I didn't believe there was a chance he'd go to LSU. I would never outright say it, but people in his inner circle, who happen to be in my inner circle, would always say, he isn't going to LSU. I didn't want to flatout say that on here. I just wanted those who thought he was locked up to know that he was far from it. Last weekend, noone spoke ill of LSU like in the past. Everyone was actually excited about the prospect of Jordan Jefferson as the QB based on him passing the "looks" test. Not so much for Lee... Now I'm not saying Bama is out of it. But think about it. If I'm a big-time WR recruit, and one of my concerns for my college choice is opportunities for reps, do I go to a school that runs way more than it throws, and when it throws, doesn't tend to go away from option 1 very much and has QB questions coming up(Bama), or do I go where it is more balanced and spread around more but has QB questions (LSU), or do I go where it's always wide-open regardless of the QB (OU). Don't forget about USC with all the L.A. attractions (although it's a long-shot), plenty of media love, and never really has QB questions. I would say based on those four, Bama would be my last choice and probably most likely to get eliminated. But Bama is not out of it... We're in much better shape than we were a month ago. There was some fear of joining a program where the "savior" was an incoming freshman just like him. Not that Shep wont' be great, but just recognizing that Shep has an even bigger learning curve than he has was reason to worry. JJ looked good and if he improves from where he is now, they're not in as big a rush to develop Shep. He's actually had this convo with Shep as well...
Re: Rueben Randle According to RR's brother, hes not going to USC, period. Direct quote from him, so they're really not in it. And the question that still needs to be asked, is what was up with the Shannon situation, I highly doubt he was just blowing smoke up everyone's ass. When you looked at the situation, everything pointed to Randle in that conversation. I just want Randle to be a bright spot for LSU on a not so bright spot of a season..
Re: Rueben Randle Sounds like a well-reasoned thought process to me. I wonder what Shep's thoughts were regarding RR thinking the coaching staff would not be in a rush to develop him?
Re: Rueben Randle Not even Miami insiders think he was talking about Randle. Randle would be a cherry on top of this recruiting class, but the class as a whole will be a bright spot for us regardless.
Re: Rueben Randle I'm not denying that CParso but getting Debose isn't a sure thing being in Florida and I don't want Randle to go. I think him and Sheppard will be the two best players in this class for us and no matter how good you are at WR, you can't miss a impact player like this. Randle is my most wanted since the beginning of the this class. Just seeing him play leaves you speechless. Best receiver in my recent memory IMO.
Re: Rueben Randle Don't misunderstand me - RR is a talent for sure and I definitely want him in this class, but he doesn't make or break the class.
Re: Rueben Randle Ill say this again. I think Randle going to Bama brings up a lot of emotions because of Satan. There is that fear that him resurrecting Bama will help him break down the fence he helped build around La. Add to that the current situation that LSU is in. No real stable play at QB, although JJ looks to be a huge improvement with immense talent. The coaching questions of Miles stifling Crowton. The debacle that is the D and uncertainty of if/when LSU will hire a legit DC. All that adds to the paranoia. I never thought of Randle as a lock like many said. Ive always thought of him being in this class but by no means a lock. No, he doesnt make or break the class. Eventhough we need other positions more, Id take Randle over Loston, Jones, etc. Only to keep that fence around La.
Re: Rueben Randle One thing I love about Randle though, that LSU is seriously lacking, is his leadership. The guy lays it all out on the field and we could really use someone like that on offense right now... Him combined with RS would bring great strides for our offensive leaders in the future IMO. I just think that, losing him with all the stuff going on at LSU would be a real downer on such a letdown of a season.
Re: Rueben Randle I wonder too with Shep supposedly having the playbooks already and going over it and terminology with Crowton.
Re: Rueben Randle Randle's brother said directly that the Shannon conversation wasn't him but did say Miami is genuine interest again. Interesting. Better the U than Bama. Anyways, just updating you guys, off to work.
