Re: Rueben Randle The Cali players are always overrated in the recruiting rankings. Bottom line, if you're not from Cali, more than likely you're legit. Randle is can't miss, btw. Just like Harvin.[/quote] Sometimes they are even overrated coming out of Cali into the pros. Just ask the Detroit Lions.
Re: Rueben Randle I just can't agree with this statement. Look at the type of team that Alabama is. They run the football behind a hard-nosed offensive line, and they ahve a caretaker at QB. Julio Jones attacks the ball better than anyone I've seen in the country. Perhaps his catch in OT against LSU will suffice as evidence. Jones is also an excellent physical specimen, he makes 5-6 YAC on most plays because he just pushed the DB down the field. AJ Green has excellent hands. He catches frozen ropes at full extension. 1000 yards is a great year especially when your in the SEC with the leading rusher in the conference. He has very few drops and makes plays. Neither of these guys have speed or flashy moves, which could validate your point on being impressed if that's what you notice, but both of these guys impress me. Jones and Green have the intangibles: Great hands, great ball skills.
Re: Rueben Randle Perhaps you didn't read my post. Those two are impressive. Not all #1 and #2 recruits end up that way.
Re: Rueben Randle Yes, I misread it, I apologize. Actually to support your claim look at Toliver and Hazelton. Neither has done much to warrant their top 2 statuses.
Re: Rueben Randle Well we had a few coaches at the game to talk to Randle. And they lost in the playoffs so hopefully we'll know where he goes soon.
Re: Rueben Randle I'm told he plans to relax for a few days then dive into the process headfirst. Don't expect an announcement before the Army All-American game, and don't be surprised if one doesn't come then either. I'm also told there's either no truth or no substance to the Miami paraphanelia at the game Friday. For one thing, noone (besides coaches and players) saw him before the game because Bradshaw requires they be at the stadium so early and although Friday was a dressdown day at BHS, there are limits to what students can wear outside of the uniform. If he wore Miami stuff, it's not a big deal AT ALL. Bastrop was upset for a number of reasons. Reason one is because RR was basically on one leg the whole game with the hamstring problem. Reason two can encompass everything else. Bradshaw had a meltdown, which he was known to do before his talent was miles ahead of everyone elses. Now that 4A has more parity (no Mackey for Bastrop, 4A schools recovering from hurricanes), it's back to the norm. He also insisted on running a 2-deep zone that Belle Chasse picked apart all night. When they went man coverage (1st drive of game and last drive of game), they stopped them. Now why he would run a defense that he would love to have run against his offense, when he's playing a team that runs virtually THE SAME OFFENSE if beyond me and anyone else watching. He was missing three starters on defense, but he still had the personnel to match-up effectively. The personal foul that he drew on 3rd & 15 late in the game hurt. They were on the verge of stopping them until his 15 yarder gave them the 1st. They went on and scored. He refused to let the back-up QB play any even though RR was literally hopping off the field on one leg a couple times. Bastrop had 13 penalties on the night. No discipline whatsoever. Two of those penalties were Bradshaw's late game antics. Finally, the arrogance of not developing a kicker at all caught up to him. Bastrop does not have a soccer program, but there are tons of kids at the high school who play soccer. You couldn't find ONE kid that could kick a football??? All-in-all, the kids played there hearts out but were letdown by there head coach not being able to keep it together. He didn't even bother to console his players on the field. Hopefully he did console them in the fieldhouse after he finished having his hissyfit. The wheels are on the verge of falling off and I don't believe he'll stick around for it... At any rate, I'm predicting that if he's serious about not going to LSU, it will be OU. People have been preaching to him about potentially "opening the floodgates" for Nick Saban with him being such a high-profile recruit. The locals have stopped outright pushing him to go to LSU. Now it's full-fledged homestate pride...even if you don't go to LSU, go anywhere except Bama...
Re: Rueben Randle Something like 15 penalties to 5 didn't help much either. My brother seems to think Randle is leaning Bama. I sure hope not.
