I have to admit, it'd be kind of funny if he ended up going to Oklahoma after all the Alabama/LSU banter

To me OU or TT wouldn't be bad schools for him to go to.I kinda thought Ole Miss would've been in the picture a little more with their Bastrop and LA connections.

From what Mike Scarborough (tigerbait.com) has said a few times on the Buddy Songy show, Saban will use things like, "they have lots of hurricanes hit there. Look at Katrina, Rita, Gustav, and Ike." Really underhanded stuff about Miles and/or the program too I guess. Instead of selling the team, they trash LSU. Pretty shady, but I think Ogeron did similar stuff.

I guess they're finding out because the players are telling them some of the stuff that's been said.

To play devil's advocate here, CP, what is wrong with pointing out regional concerns to a player? If LSU were recruiting a player that was also considering Texas Tech, do you not think it would be okay to say, "do you really want to spend 4 years in the middle of nowhere BFE?" I mean have you ever been to Lubbock? Dude, I don't get how human beings live there.

If Saban says that about LSU, he should say the same for FLA, for sure, given their propensity for more storms. I am not advocating negative recruiting, but I think pointing out regional concerns is different than just saying a program is crap for this or that. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Well then Miles needs to pull the ole standard "Bama has people walking around with 3 eyes due to inbreeding" card.

I'd much rather a coach that can recruit based on selling our program and doesn't have to resort to talking about other programs at all.

So it has to be true if this guys says it is. He must have the players phone lines tapped or either hiding in the coat closet at the recruits house. Find it hard to believe this but hey, I'm biased right? :rolleye33:

Hey, Miles can counter and say that they can use the Hurricanes as an excuse for losing games...That seems to be a regular thing anyways.

    Re: Rueben Randle

I have two different recruits tell me something similar. Neither of them are from the same areas and a year separated them in recruiting classes. It sounds very believable, although I didn't really believe it until I heard it from a recruit this year. I didn't think that Saban needed to resort to those kind of tactics, but maybe he was doing the same while he was at LSU.

Maybe it was just limited to those recruits? Perhaps they mentioned in conversation concerns abouot hurricanes, flooding, etc.?

I don't consider Saban a real negative recruiter (Meyer defines it). There's no doubt though that he resorted to the tactic against LSU when he first got to Bama - he was trying anything he could to get his foot into Louisiana.

I understand your point, but it's hardly showing concern for geographical location, it's trying to instill fear.
Scarborough owns TigerBait.com, which is the top LSU Rivals recruiting site. He's not just some Joe Schmo. Players that have been recruited have expressed concern about negative recruiting.
