In hindsight, I think it helped LSU seal the deal for Randle to take both officials to Bama and LSU. Had he decided against it, we may still be talking about an LSU/Bama showdown come Wednesday.
I think he answered the question he already knew the answer to, he just needed extra reinforcement. He felt a lot more comfortable with his trip to LSU. Plus, the parents playing a big part in all of it, were made just as comfortable by Miles and Co. It wasn't that Bama was an undesirable place to play, it just wasn't LSU. It sealed the deal.
If you were the recruit pursued by Miles, Saban and CUM, I think it is a lot easier to be comfortable with Miles than the other two.:milesmic:
Rueben Randle Much ballyhooed WR Rueben Randle was supposed to make an official visit to Auburn this weekend. His Bastrop H.S. coach told him not to go and he didn't come. Looks like he is LSU bound (I never thought otherwise). You guys got those LA H.S. coaches trained well:grin:
Re: Rueben Randle His coach may have given that advice but it was not the reason he is not going IMO. His family has been at the forefront of his recruitment with his HS coach in the shadows for the most part. The family have been thinking about shutting it down early because they are just tired of it all.
Re: Rueben Randle Nobody at LSU can take credit for these relationships. Saban is responsible for all things(good, not bad) at LSU, and alluding to anything otherwise will likely result in a law suit courtesy of a bama grad at the next SEC media days.
Re: Rueben Randle Coach Bradshaw scared RR into not going. He said "Now Rueben, you better not geaux to AU, Bama, or OU. I have a good relationship with Miles and you aren't going to mess that up. I told Downs, where he better go and you better follow. The state of LA and the city of Strop City is counting on you, Rueben." Something like that
Re: Rueben Randle Really don't have a problem with a coach promoting a school. But the "I have a good relationship with Miles and you aren't going to mess that up" type of attitudes are wrong. Coaches should be working in the player's interest, not their own. I know the above isn't a true quote, but each year in recruiting where you hear of coaches and "handlers" making the recruitment about themselves, and it just lacks integrity. Where is the stepping off soapbox emoticon?
