Re: Rueben Randle This his nothing to do with his committment, but a little birdy told me their is strong possibility RR finishes the year as #1 overall recruit according to Rivals. Barkley has picked up the pace (and not thrown an interception) the past couple of weeks against lesser opponents, but the playoffs for both will tell the story. Barkley is a pro-style QB and RR is playing "out of position" as a dual threat QB, but even still, RR is out-performing him and is regarded as by far the bigger impact player. But as you know QBs get more love, so Barkley has kept his #1 spot so far.
Re: Rueben Randle THANKS! That's actually what I meant to type, but was thinking QB and typed it instead...just like a couple years ago when McNight and Marc Tyler were #1 and #2 respectively...neither of them have amounted to much thus far. Not to say they won't be great, but eh....
Re: Rueben Randle I just wanted to know if bhelm or cp or isl or someone could give an update on Rueben. The reason I ask is because I'm hearing a rumour from a "reliable source" who said not only is RR going to commit to Bama but that he's going to commit to them by the end of the week. His said part of the reason is that Nicks might be going to Bama after this season and since Nicks and RR are close, RR is planning on following him there. Take this information as EXTREMELY secondhand. Really, the only reason I'm bringing it up is that I'm hoping someone has heard the complete opposite.
Re: Rueben Randle Have heard the same rumors and he was actually supposed to commit today. Plenty of people in Bastrop say it has zero credence. Last year bama boards said much the same thing about Tyler Edwards, and Matt Branch, and Chase Clement, and Chris Tolliver. See a trend? Next year it will be another 3-4 recruits from La that go through recruiting and bama will tout them as eventual commits as well. Probably not very likely.
Re: Rueben Randle Until his highschool season is over nobody is going to know anything. Take anything that seems to favor his pending commitment to Bama, Miami, or LSU and disregard it for the time being. IMO.
Re: Rueben Randle Thanks for the quick replies! When I heard the rumour I pretty much thought the same thing, but, since I'm not in the loop as much as others, I thought it best I check on things. If RR was to commit to Bama, I can't say I'd be upset with him however. The appeal of JJ on one side and RR on the other unable to double both has a lot of drawing power. I know we have some good WR's here too, but none have broken out yet like JJ has for Bama. I do think our best bet would be for TT to start coming alive. He seems to make some really good catches, I often wonder why the coaches don't put more plays toward him. At least these rumours will be proven or disproven soon, as if they're going to happen, it's suppose to happen today / this week. Ah well. :geauxtige
Re: Rueben Randle ESPN has moved Russell Shepard into the #1 spot on its Top 150 list. Barkley dropped to #2.
