A buddy of mine is a coach in Ocean Springs. He just texted me and said that DeAndre Brown (6'6" WR) just ran a 4.39, a 4.41, and a 4.42 forty back to back to back. That's just sick....especially for a guy his size.

Sounds crazy, but remember, he won state in the 100 meter when he was in 9th grade.

    Come to LSU, son.

He is very raw, OS does not run a pro set offense and he does not get enough touches on the ball. This kid is an awesome athlete and he would be a great asset to our receiving corp. One of his former teamates, Richard Dickson, is a Tiger right now. Brown would most likely have to redshirt, so he could work on his routes.

The same coach told me his yards were kinda modest last year b/c Ocean Springs didn't have a QB that could get DeAndre the ball. Next year should be different. OS is getting a transfer from Vancleave who is supposed to be able to toss the onion pretty well. I'll keep ya posted.

After reading a litte bit about him, it brings to mind that WR we were recruiting for a little bit last year, Rashad Mason (signed with UNC). Great measurables, height/speed/etc, but a bit raw. Ultimately, the coaching staff saw Mason as a TE prospect because he wasn't athletic enough to get yards after the catch as a WR. Could this be a possibility with Brown?

Right on brother. If this kid grows anymore, he definitely projects as a TE.

Can you imagine a 6' 7" TE with 4.4 speed ? (I know he would bulk up to play TE and lose some speed)

He has the look of a pure receiver. He doesn't seem to be much of a blocker. Very athletic, just not used as much as he should be.

Half of that is right. He isn't used as much as he should be. The scouts do say he is unusally talented as a downfield blocker. With that size and a bit more weight, he'll be tremendous.
