Saints went WR in the 4th. Personally, I was hoping for an OL or CB (like Boykin out of Georgia) but wtf do I know.
I felt the same way for most of the draft. With the Saints it's always less of a "Who's Who" and more of a "Who's That?". We did wind up getting a CB/S and 2 OL's. It'll be interesting to see if we bring in any DE's prior to training camp.
Yup, Al's kid he is indeed. Also, I just found out that the Henry Ellard, former LA Ram, is our new WR coach with the departure of Johnson to Head Coach at Tulane.
Jahri Evans Jermon Bushrod Marques Colston Carl Nicks Did you know who any of these guys were before the Saints drafted them?
I think the DE that we are 'bringing in' is already on the roster from last year, knee injury in senior year put Greg Romeus, Pitt, on the PUP list.
I believe the coaching staff is pretty high on Romeus. Looking for 2nd year improvement in Jordan, plus we have McBride and Galette. I think we'll be OK at DE, assuming Smith isn't suspended for more than 4 games.
I think Nick Toon is better than Rueben Randle... Nick Toon: 6-2, 215 R. Randle: 6-3, 210 Nick Toon: 37.5 vertical at combine, 39.0 vertical at pro day R. Randle: 31.0 vertical at combine, 31.0 vertical at pro day Nick Toon: 4.54 forty at combine, 4.43 forty at pro day R. Randle: 4.55 forty at combine, 4.43 forty at pro day Nick Toon: 18 Bench Reps (@ 225 Lb.) R. Randle: 15 Bench Reps (@ 225 Lb.) Nick Toon: 10'10" broad jump R. Randle: 10'01" broad jump Nick Toon, 2011: 71.2 yards/game (926 yds in 13 games), 10 TD R. Randle, 2011: 65.5 yards/game (917 yds in 14 games), 8 TD Nick Toon, 2010: 51.0 yards/game (459 yds in 9 games), 3 TD R. Randle, 2010: 41.8 yards/game (544 yds in 13 games), 3 TD Nick Toon, 2009: 61.9 yards/game (805 yds in 13 games), 4 TD R. Randle: 2009: 13.3 yards/game (173 yds in 13 games), 2 TD and both played for run-first-teams: Wisconsin 2011 -- 65% rush, 35% pass 2010 -- 68% rush, 32% pass 2009 -- 63% rush, 37% pass LSU 2011 -- 68% rush, 32% pass 2010 -- 64% rush, 36% pass 2009 -- 56% rush, 44% pass also, Nick's father, Al Toon, was a 3-time All-Pro and 3-time Pro Bowl WR for the Jets...they both played four years at Wisconsin, and Nick broke his father's school records (Nick had 171 catches for 2,447 yards, his dad had 131 catches for 2,103 yards)
I think this guy will be a steal...of course...as long as he has a quarterback decent enough to get him the ball. Not so sure Chase Daniel can lead this team.
