Evaluation
Brown is a very intriguing player and we are not so sure he shouldn't be listed as an "athlete" in terms of all the things he does for this team. First off, his size is rare and affords him the ability to create a lot of mismatches. He plays some wide receiver, but also plays QB, RB, slot, returns kicks and punts and plays defense which is where we could see coaches eventually moving him if Brown had an interest. Is big, strong and shows very good speed, maybe not elite, but very good. Has long arms and almost looks as if he would grow out of the WR spot in time into an H-back or maybe OLB. Is a physical short-to-intermediate route-runner that uses wide frame to shield defenders from the ball and has the potential to develop into a productive red zone target. Shows good toughness, fights for the ball while it's in the air and isn't afraid to go over the middle. Reads defenses fairly well and generally does a nice job of settling into a soft spot working against zone coverage. Possesses good upper body strength and will outmuscle smaller DB's for the ball in contested match-ups. Has big hands and a wide catch radius to haul in passes thrown outside of his frame. He moves very well for his size after the catch and is difficult to bring down. Shows adequate change-of-direction skills and initial burst off the plant in the open field is pretty good for a player of his size. However, Brown does not always show smooth hips and great explosiveness as a route runner or after the catch. He is versatile and used in a variety of ways, but may not find it as easy to separate or get downfield versus top competition. He is deceptive in his methods and his production level is sky high which is most important at the end of the day. He's an athlete, pure and simple and just makes a ton of plays with the ball in his hands.
