That surprised me as well because I never knew he had grade issues. I think one will be in shortly because if we have not heard about until now I assume they are not too far off.

That shocked me also that he didn't have one since LSU has been recruiting him for a while.

Sometimes you don't offer a kid because you're scared he'll commit prematurely. If Appleton hasn't seen LSU and wants to commit, you have to think that would be a high-risk commitment. Another school could come in and wow him and get him away from us. Meanwhile, his commitment would potentially scare off the likes of Patterson, etc.

It may just be a matter of the LSU coaches wanting to get him on campus and really make sure his interest is solid.

I see your point, but don't really agree. I think typically in such a case, the recruit is just told to hold off & wait until they visit.

My guess is we want to see him in camp & see how his grades are - maybe even wait & see what happens with some other prospects on the board.

    Update on his grades.

I thought grades might be an issue but it is not looking that way unless the fact that he has not taken the ACT yet and will not do so until October. He reports a 3.2GPA.

    Qualifying obviously not an issue.

    Let's get him on board.

I think I was overthinking this Appleton thing. If he doesn't have an offer, it must simply mean that we think we have a real shot at someone we like better. We know that Appleton doesn't have an offer, and we know that Pat Patterson doesn't have an offer.

I've been assuming that Debose is sitting in the "small receiver" slot and would have nothing to do with Appleton, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the coaches want Randle, Bell, and Debose as a group. Or maybe there's another receiver they like and think they have a shot with. Marlon Brown?

There are some real clues to what the coaches are thinking here, but I'm not sure we have it all figured out.

Don't know why but he will not be making the camp and I expected him to get his offer this weekend. Probably travel expenses but he better make an appearance sometime if he wants an offer.

Tigerrag reported back in March that his offer was being held back due to academics and that once he got that in order, he would get the offer and from all accounts from Appleton he would readily accept.

Not sure what to believe on this one.
