That is the key argument I used when discussing the WR position and the correct line of thinking. We want to big WR and a slot possession WR like Bell, Debose, or Wooten. Bell has mentioned that his spot is saved after a visit and discussion with Miles. However, there is always a chance Miles will want him to commit now and he wants to wait and potentially lose the saved spot.
I think Bell's spot is there for him. He is a great talent alot like Early, he will be a great third down, big play guy fo us.
However, DeBose is likely to stay in Florida where as Bell is a LA kid who we do not want to lose out on. The coaches must see him fitting in quite well at the slot WR spot and showing loyalty to top ranked LA prospects and LA high schools does not hurt LSU. Only way it could hurt in this case is if Miles decides to press for a commit and we hold out waiting while other WRs are ready to commit. I am sure Miles will handle that if or when the time comes.
I agree with Bhelm's assessment, but if Bell decides to hold out til signing day (hypothetically), then LSU will more than likely have their man before then. LSU and Bell have to work together to make it happen, in other words.
LSU is Appleton's favorite right now. It's not a clear cut favorite by any means, but we definitely have a good shot at this kid.
:geaux::crystal::helmet: Just say Appleton calls CLM today and says he wants to commit, what happens? I would assume LSU would accept his commitment. If so, where would that leave Bell? I still think Bell is on the slippery slope if he holds out to Signing Day or real close to it, although I'm sure the coaching staff would inform him when time was getting short. I just don't think his spot is saved if WR's higher on the board want to commit and he's still holding out. Randle's spot is safe I'm sure, and I know LSU is recruiting higher ranked WR's than Bell. May not get to that point, but it could happen and then Bell is on the outside looking in. :geauxtige:champs::LSU231:
Appleton and Bell are going for different WR spots and one committing would not change anything for the other. Bell is a slot WR and commits by Wooten, Debose, or Bumphis would make the situation interesting. For Appleton, Patterson and Brown would be fighting for a spot if they all wanted to commit. This is assuming Randle is on board and the last 2 spots are open, a slot and a big WR. Randle fits the same mold as Appleton, Brown, and the 2 Pattersons. I agree that Bell will be told when the time comes to decide and his spot would be in jeopardy if one of the slot WR wanted to commit before he did.
