Re: DeAngelo Benton - what ever happened to him? D-Lo went through some confidence issues (clearly not in his ability to play) but in his ability to achieve academically. When many around town thought it was no big deal and he was just wasting his talent like so many others from the past. But then it became clear that he was "shook" so to speak about stepping into the big-time and staying there. From what I was told, he even contemplated leaving the LSU situation alone altogether and possibly attending the JUCO where Randall Mackey is currently thriving. He was also really close to taking up an offer to go up north (I'll leave it at that), but ultimately his heart was at LSU. In the end, he was simply so afraid to fail that he was afraid to try. I will say this...if that young man has realized what is ahead for him, strap in and enjoy the show. That kid is a flatout beast with GREAT hands. The best way I can describe the difference between D-Lo and Rueben is this...Rueben is super talented, super competitive, and LOVES football, he could be just as happy thriving in the classroom. He won't need football to be successful. D-Lo on the other hand is super talented, super competitive, but he LOVES and NEEDS football. We saw what he was without football, and if he doesn't succeed, he'll end up in Bastrop doing a bunch of nothing. When D-Lo is on, which he will be, he is flatout unstoppable. He wants to demoralize his opponent. He wants to beat whoever is checking him, score, then screw the poor man's girlfriend on the sideline while he watches... I know I was the one putting a little doubt into the RR to LSU scenario, and I'm not tipping my hand just yet, but I will say this...RR+D-Lo+TT+Shephard = HUGE problems for SEC defenses...and D-Lo is better than Julio Jones... :geaux:
Re: DeAngelo Benton - what ever happened to him? Not trying to tease Nupe...he really hasn't made up his mind yet.
Re: DeAngelo Benton - what ever happened to him? That's a helluva statement and one I won't believe until I see it. Julio Jones is incredible.
Re: DeAngelo Benton - what ever happened to him? That is a helluva a statement, I would have to see that, being that this kid hasnt played a down of college football.
Re: DeAngelo Benton - what ever happened to him? Okay, he has the potential to be better than Julio. But potential means you haven't done it yet. Miles just keeps loading the wagon. These are the good old days.
Re: DeAngelo Benton - what ever happened to him? Just didn't know if you quoted the wrong person or whether you were making some sort of sarcastic post in reference to mine.
