Re: Andre DeBose He made it pretty clear he never intended to leave the state of Florida during his commit. He said of course I have to stay in the state of Florida, which leads me to believe distance has always been a factor. Unless he was just pressured to do it in front of all the Florida fans there. One thing to note is RS was really happy last night until Debose announcement. You could see how disappointed RS was after and the entire night leading to Debose announcement, you could see how nervous his face was. Perhaps he was forced into committing to Florida or its just the fact he didn't want to let his buddy RS down so much. I don't think LSU gets him.
Re: Andre DeBose LSU had Coach McCarthy fly down to see Debose early this AM. So that should tell you how we feel about it not being over. And yes Debose didn't look very excited after he announced Florida.
Re: Andre DeBose Leading up to the announcement you could see how worried Debose was on his face. I think his parents got in the way of his recruitment. If you noticed in the game after the long TD, he didn't go over to celebrate with RS. I just felt bad for RS because he looked like he was sick after Debose announced Florida. Guy puts too much stress on his shoulders and has to understand you're going to be let down in recruiting. I just think it kinda hurt because they were pretty close in the recruiting process apparently. Just fyi, I've heard if he goes anywhere, it will be Miami with his buddies if its not Florida.
Re: Andre DeBose Judging from what I've seen the last few years maybe it's the "momma" that should be sitting behind the table with the ballcaps. In the end it seems like that's the final word.
Re: Andre DeBose It's never a good bet to go against Momma. They tend to get their way, which is why coaches try so hard to seal the deal with in-home visits.
Re: Andre DeBose Just what a few have been seeing on the Miami boards. I'm not so sure to be honest, I don't see why he'd go to that hole. Then again, why does Miami continue to recruit so good? Shannon is a disaster for that program. I personally don't see him changing his commitment either way but I could definitely believe his hand was forced. He said yesterday: "Of course I have to stay in Florida" and "I grew up a Florida fan" So if you believe that, then distance is obviously a factor for him, despite what he said in interviews. Forcing his hand might have had more to do with wanting to go to Miami than LSU. I just don't know, this guy has had a weird recruitment.
Re: Andre DeBose He loves LSU & Miles, but he loves the idea of being the next Percy Harvin in UF's offense too. Miami is close to home & his teammates will be there, but I haven't gotten the sense that he loves the program at all. IMO, it was probably Meyer's recruiting combined with Mom wanting him to stay home that got him to pick up the Gator hat. While their may be some tense moments between now & NSD for Gator fans, I expect him to stick with UF.
