OU was actually top 3 in sacks in the big 12 which is pretty good considering how fast the offense's usually operate or at least that is what I tell myself.

I’m liking the staff Kelly is putting together. Sure seems a lot more thought is going into it than what we’ve seen the last couple of years.

Exactly! I don't know if all these guys are the right hires just because I don't follow other teams closely enough. But the thought and planning involved in hiring this staff is a welcome change and makes me optimistic.

To be honest, thats still alot of assumption. The mantra was all these guys are top tier and tied up in CFP or NFLP. Lookin less like thats the case and more goin down a list after the primary candidates dont work out.

I think the big difference between O and CBK is their experience as a HC. O didn't have a long record of success as a head coach when he arrived at LSU and I think that was evident in his hires, particularly the last couple of years. CBK has built successful staffs as a head coach and is better equipped to know what to look for when it comes to coordinators and other position coaches. After winning the NC in 2019, it was clear O was having trouble landing experienced coordinators and I think that was due to lack of experience in hiring coordinators and the culture that was surrounding the program. That was a red flag for me! Young and upcoming coordinators wanted no part of the program. As fans, we may have not been able to see the inter-workings of the program, but coaches talk which is why O was forced to hire two coordinators that had zero experience in the position. In time, the cracks/problems became more evident to the fans and we know what happened after that! I trust CBK much more when it comes to assembling his staff.
