The Rose Bowl is as overrated as the Heisman. Oldest doesn't necessarily mean best. They have a great parade followed by a usually meaningless football game.

The Cotton Bowl was simply played in a dump. Historic?...sure. A dump?...definitely.

With Jerry World now being built they'll surely make a run at being added to the mix. I would prefer someone get dropped if that were to happen. My choice...the Rose Bowl. They're the people who wanted special rules so they could still get their choices even if it wasn't their year to choose. Screw 'em! Keep your weak ass Pac-1 / Big 10 matchup.

Everybody else can go play for National Championships.

Capital One Bowl...please select another team this year. When you prove you've gotten your act together...give us a call.

Meaningless to an sec fan perhaps, but has always been the top viewer rated bowl long before the BCS and still ranks tops outside the championship game itself.

If you are suggesting the Orange and Sugar have had better match-ups from either a ranking or viewer prespective, please refer to the last ten years of games... or longer. Do you see a Hawaii, Utah, Wake Forest, etc. playing in the Rose?

    I didn't think so. :rolleye33:

that was more of the Sugar getting shafted by rules than anything else.
the Sugar all but said they weren't interested in Hawaii, Utah, etc.

    .
But just like the Rose has to take TCU this year (if rankings remain as they are), the Sugar had to take them.

Absolutely meaningless outside of the midwest and west coast. Locking into just two conferences reduced the Rose Bowl from a coveted national bowl to a regional bowl. I never understood why they did that.

Nope, and you don't see Florida, Texas, LSU, Alabama, Oklahoma or Florida State either. You know, national championship caliber schools from where the best football is played in this country.

LOL... you need to follow the ratings a little better.. you'd be amazed at what ratings the Rose has picked up from what's known as transplant states.... and Red... "never understood why"... c'mon.... it's always been about $$$$$$$! You know that....

btw, a lot of teams can play the game. There's not a damn thing wrong with southern football... once you can get past the arrogance.:hihi:

we'll see what kind of rating TCU vs. Wisconsin draws.

by losing their SEC champ each of the last few years, the Sugar has had to settle for 2nd best in their own conference, and the at large forced on them has been less than spectacular lately.

TV ratings? That ain't how I judge football, Hoss.

Each of the top five bowls pay $18 million. I dare say there is more money spent on football in the old Confederate states than the rest of the country.

    It's pride, amigo. I know you don't understand. It's a southern thing.

But you know, there's not a damn thing wrong with the Rose Bowl . . . once you can get past the arrogance.

    12 BCS titles:

    SEC - 6

    Pac 1 - 1
    Big 10 - 1

The Rose should have the top teams from the two conferences. It's not like their member schools are out winning National Championships. :hihi:

The Big 10 has a lot of tradition but the Pac-1 has USC. The second place "all-time" team in the PAC is Washington. Where would Washington rank in the SEC?

    7th?...8th?...9th?

Good Lord...this from the guy claiming the Rose is too good for the little schools. The reason why the Sugar keeps getting the little schools is because the SEC champ is busy playing for :crystal: instead of in the Sugar Bowl. Yeah, I know there's some Big 10 schools that missed out on the Rose for the same reason. Instead, they got to go have their arses handed to them by an SEC school.
