Damn...I know some of y'all might have had ONE bad experience at the Cap 1 bowl but get over it already. The weather was horrible for 2 weeks leading up to the game with several events leading up to the game. The grass has been replaced with the same turf as Jerry's world so lesson learned. Also, about the location....I play 60-75 baseball games a year at Tinker Field (located on Citrus Field grounds) and I can promise you the location of the Super Dome is 100 time worse and more "ghetto" than the location of the Citrus bowl. Now I know location, cost, and awww of Jerry's world is a huge plus for the LSU fan base ...and I understand that...but saying Orlando is crap compared to the Dallas game is ridiculous. For one....I was surfing last Sat and playing golf Sunday in central FLA...Ive been in Dallas on Christmas eve with 17 degree temps and 50 mph winds....so hows that weather for ya?!?! For two...are ya scared??? Cap 1 bowl is the BEST non BCS bowl game with the best possible match up (not debatable). Lets see....Mich St or TAMU ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! A lot of people in this thread appear scared and want the easy win over the challenge. whatever.
oh...and Orlando is rated the top vacation spot in the world...where is Dallas on that list??? just dont say Orlando is crap
You heard wrong or the rumor mill went rampant, but nonetheless the cap one voters were more interested in Bama as they felt they would be a fresh team for Orlando and would travel well. Seemed a bit ridiculous, but there was doubt from voters as to how well we would travel after last years issues. Either way, I used to love the LSU vs aTm games and am looking forward to another. I am NOT looking forward to the ridiculous chants the aggies have.
Objectively - Tinker is garbage, but it's got new turf and will soon have some renovations to make it a decent venue. The neighborhood sucks, but it's a short Lymmo ride from downtown which now has tons to do and some nice hotels. I agree with you that I'd rather have a game here than Dallas any day of the week.
Well, I've stated my opinion already, so enough of that. But to the point of being scared of the competition? I actually think we match up better against the Sparties. I just wanna see LSU play TAMU, in Dallas. I win.
I didn't hear wrong and you post contains the reason why the Cap One wanted Bama over LSU and that is not ridiculous. We see that with a number of Bowls when making the decisions on who to invite.
BB...I'm not anti-Orlando and visit there every 1-2 years. I have friends there and visit all the parks, etc. I've watched LSU play in 12 bowl games and the worst two were in Orlando. The city was great but there are no hotels, restaurants, bars, etc. anywhere around the stadium so I do believe the Superdome has the Citrus Bowl beat in that area. I'm glad to hear the turf has been replaced. It appears they were not able to handle the coordination of two bowl games and high school championships. Maybe they should consider hiring better coordinators or reducing the volume of games in the stadium. Even with the turf change, the stadium will still rank very lowly compared to the Superdome, Georgia Dome, Cowboys Stadium, etc. If LSU plays there again, I will attend but I'm very happy we're not going this year. It would be close for you but those of us who travel, it's nice to go to different venues. I hope the Capitol One is great this year and I hope they continue to make improvements to the stadium. It would also be nice if they added parking or corrected the problems they had with the shuttles last year. Simply having a large payout or being in a nice city doesn't make it a great bowl game. They have a lot of work to do and hopefully they're up to the challenge. That's not a knock to your city at all.
