Hehe......... judge! too funny!! I've lived in the south for some 40 years. I get the southern thing. really!
Cap One passed on us and we have accepted invite to Cotton. Got info from a friend with contacts in athletic department.
This is true, however LSU told Capital One selection committee that we weren't interested which made their decision much easier.
Not from what I have heard. LSU is not in the business of turning down high bowl bids but just push for the one they want more. Bad for business if we tell a high money slot game that we don't want to go to their bowl because next time we may need that bowl to select us.
I doubt this changes anything but lsusports.net reported that the announcement of our bowl by LSU has been postponed until after the BCS Selections. All of the media was told to come to LSU later than regularly scheduled for interviews.
Why does LSU and fans want the lesser bow, the Cotton instead of the Cap One? I dont understand this at all. Granted the Cotton Bowl is still a pretty prestigious bowl. Just saying, makes no sense to me why you wouldnt want the best possible game and opponent.
I don't mind either way but there are positive and negatives for each game. This is will be the 1st year the Cotton is the last big game before the BCSNC and no other games will be on that day.(Cap one will have 3 or 4 other games on at the same time) Also the Cotton has gained prestige due to Cowboys stadium far exceeding what the Cap One stadium can offer. Distance for fans to travel, etc... The payouts are only $90K difference after the split and we would have more cost for the team to travel to Orlando. Many advantages for the Cap as well like the competition, etc...
I dont think the Cap One is "better." I think it sucks. Doesnt the SEC pool the money anyway, which makes it irrelevant.
