Would you like for LSU have an NCAA Div-1 ice hockey team?

Florida is garbage.

That, and they're nothing but a bunch of dislocated yankees anyway. Half the people in florida grew up watching/playing hockey up north...before they relocated to florida.

 

Yeah, I mentioned in another thread that the UF hockey team sucked. Didn't feel like bringing it up again.

 

Per post, the idea is pretty dead but what about the 20 that think it is a bitchin idea? I mean, why???

:geaux: Agree with many of the previous posts that it wouldn't work for a myriad of reasons. Just wouldn't fly down here. I'd much rather see a men's soccer team since so many kids play the game from a very young age now. The talent base throughout the state and the south is growing and getting better and better every year. There is some great talent here in the Central La. area as well as Lafayette, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, etc. For many kids soccer is their primary sport or the only one they play and many are great athletes. Hope soccer at LSU happens one day. :LSU231:

Hey that might even help us with Title IX. I mean it would be scholarships for women athletes and would probably even be a money maker instead of sponging off football like the other girly sports.

 

Although it'll never happen, it won't be because of recruiting difficulties. I Imagine if you brought a bunch of French Canadians, for example, down for official visits and they saw something like the Alabama game in November- with all the tailgating going on with all those pretty girls in shorts and T-shirts in the middle of winter.... or if they took in Mardi Gras during a warm spell... we'd be #1 in Hockey recruiting too according to scout and rivals. Overnight we'd be contending for the national championship.

They couldn't have a Waterford trophy though, because the players would have to bring the trophy around to all the bars and party with the fans like the Stanley cup. Shooting tequila out of the national championship trophy at a bar in the French Quarter with the team sure beats looking at the "boot" in a display case on campus. Think of the possibilities guys; you could still have the above mentioned mud wrestling as pre game entertainment.:wink:

...er...I just realized that the boot is in a display case in the mountains a little further north... aaargh

 

I hate hockey. Here in DFW, though, there are a ton of kids' club teams (all the kids I've ever taught who play hockey are jerks, though.)

 

I hate hockey as well...id rather see the Men's soccer team get sanctioned by the NCAA.
