Kinda shocked by the numbers. I love the character of the man that is Coach Miles. That will be difficult to replace (improbable, in fact). His recruiting has been awesome. He has an awesome record, but has had equally awesome talent in which to work with. Can he get us to the promised land? What your version of the promised land probably dictated your answer as well.
If he does leave I will understand. But he definitely has Integrity and that is something I value in a HC. He has handled this situation the best way he could IMO. If he stays and has to replace Bo, how he handles that selection will tell a lot about the future.
My feelings as well. But I just can't get past the lackluster, unmotivated, undisciplined/inconsistent play this season and Miles apparent unwillingness/inability to do anything about it. Who else saw the Arkysaw game going down the tube before half-time? That being said, this season was about the strangest on record and there's probly gonna be a perceived "asterisk" next to whoever wins the MNC. On the other hand, we're 2 uncompleted passes from a 12-0 season with a starting QB and RB who both may never play/start in the NFL. Is it that strange to say we could have done better? Will the team spend the off-season wondering what could have been? I hope so. Then again, WV and Mizzou may both lose Saturday....
His record is pretty awesome, and I like the way he handles himself and his passion for the game and the players. However, based on the talent we've "supposedly" had over the last few years I am beginning to think that maybe, just maybe, LSU has undercheived a bit. (Remembering that we play in the SEC) Don't get me wrong, I am satisfied with the accomplishments over the last 3 years so far (32-6; big bowl wins, and national spotlight). I understand that bringing in another coach would be risky, kinda like leaving your wife for your mistress.....The known vs the unknown I believe CLM is a pretty darn good coach. There are 119 D1 schools and HC. I would say that CLM is one of the better ones, definately in the top 25%, but NOT one of the elite coaches. I will be a little dissappointed if he leaves for UM, but very anxious to see what names LSU's recent history will attract. :geaux:
I know what you mean, but if he goes, his successor takes over a program coming off 3 consecutive 10 win seasons and inherits multiple top 5 recruiting classes. Not to mention the prestige of coaching in one of the nation's most respected venues. I think we will attract candidates that far exceed the calibre of Hallman/DiNardo.
Ask this question again after Saturday.:hihi: Not sure why people think we'll get a "championship, prestigious coach" should Miles leave. It's not like we have a history of doing that. Whatever happens, I just hope it happens next week. Don't want Miles to put us in the same position Saban put us in.
