I also spoke with some of his family...nice people by the way, and they all agreed that he'd be back at Mississippi next year.
Very interesting post. I never gave it thought once he shipped out to ole piss. With his recruiting angles and Bo Pelini possibly out the door, I dont see much of a dropoff.
He's a joke as a HC, yes. But you can't deny he was VERY good at his position with USC as a D-line coach and he was responsible for a lot of USC's higher profile recruits (or at least that's what he's been given credit for doing). Personally, I see nothing wrong with him being a position coach/DC at LSU. For one, he's NOT a head coach, so he wouldn't be giving many interviews... Secondly, c'mon, from a football perspective, no matter who you are, you aren't going to get a job coaching an SEC school if you're a complete idiot. Finally, dis him all you want (I laugh at him and all of his voice-clips/interviews/farks as much as anyone else), but that's two years that he's taken a VERY undermanned Ole Miss team and had them playing VERY well against us.
and really everyone else for that matter, too. they had several near-misses this year, florida being one. alabama being another.
Yeah but that's the difference between good teams, average teams, and bad teams. Good teams usually win most of those games...Average teams win about half of those games...Bad teams always find ways to lose close games.
I don't like the guy honestly, and I don't think he likes LSU too much either. He seems to be one of those guys that couldn't cut it at LSU as a player and is holding a grudge against LSU. I'll give him credit as a recruiter, but I think his players look a little thuggish. We definitey don't want any more of that.
Well...he did play his college ball at Northwestern State...so there's a good chance he wasn't offered at LSU. Orgeron was/is friends with my uncle and the two teamed up with Bobby Hebert to lead South Lafourche High to a state title. My uncle accepted a scholarship at then USL while Hebert and Orgeron went to Northwestern St.
