Everybody knows about the success Peterson had at Boise State last year, but one great season against a WAC conference schedule doesn't mean anything. Any SEC team could run the table against those WAC teams; Oklahoma was the only good team Boise State faced last year. Its one thing to motivate your team to play its best for one game, and much more difficult to do that for an entire season. Hawkins, the former coach at Boise State, has as much success at Boise State but he's struggled at Colorado.
