Harris should have played most of the second half vs Kentucky. When the score got to 31-3 the game had already been decided.
While I agree with you, the flip is that AJ needs all the reps he can get to continue to fine tune his starting role.
Having seen Shep play a number of times, Red is right, look at the position he's playing in the Pro's. I also saw his brother Nick play in high school, Nick played DB, an was very good at it.
I could see your point if those reps were used to work on improving his passing but if all he is going to do is hand the ball off how does that help him improve?
Spring game: Harris 195 yds and 3 TDs, 77 yds rushing 1 TD. Jennings 2 pick sixes. Wisconsin game: Jennings 9/21 239 yds 2 TD, 9 rushes -2 yds, Harris no pass attempts, 2 rushes -11 yds SHSU: Jennings 7/13 188 yds 3 TD, 8 rushes 43 yds, Harris 4/5 62 yds 1 TD, 5 rushes 53 yds 1 TD ULM: Jennings 11/18 139 yds 1 INT, 7 rushes 20 yds, Harris 1/2 14 yds, 2 rushes 11 yds Miss St: Jennnings 13/26 157 yds, 11 rushes 6 yds, Harris 6/9 140 yds, 2 TDs, 1 INT, 2 rushes 19 yds NMSU: Jennings 2/5 11 yds, 2 INT, 3 rushes 9 yds, Harris 11/14 178 yds 3 TDs, 5 rushes 36 yds 2 TD Auburn: Jennings 5/10 84 yds, 2 rushes 7 yds, Harris 3/14 58 yds, 8 rushes 36 yds Florida: Jennings 10/21 110 yds, 10 rushes -8 yds, Harris did not playthe gu Kentucky: Jennings 7/14 120 yds, 7 rushes 40 yds, Harris 0/1 1INT, 1 rush 8 yds These are the stats for the two QBs this year. I keep hearing Harris isn't ready, Harris can't beat out Jennings, Harris is "interception boy", Harris must earn it. Now I don't have anything against Jennings, I don't care if he starts and I agree that he needs snaps. I also believe Harris needs snaps because neither QB is heads above the other. Please show me any evidence that Jennings has "earned" playing time while Harris has not. Doesn't Jennings have to "earn" playing time also? This is not a pro-Harris/anti-Jennings post. It's an answer to those who imply, without any kind of evidence, that Harris is somehow less "ready" or less deserving than Jennings. The stats say otherwise. The fact that they can only justify Jennings as the best option by dumping on Harris is damning praise. The other argument is that Harris will be the starter in time. He will get more opportunites but evidence shows that he is getting fewer opportunities, not more. I don't care which of these QB's becomes "the guy" but I do think each should get an opportunity to shine. Jennings has gotten far more opportunity and shined far less often. I hope he turns it around. But I think Harris deserves an equal shot. I'll continue to pull for Jennings when he is on the field, the coaches will play who they see fit. But the argument that Harris can't hit the side of a barn or somehow hasn't earned playing time as Jennings has is a ridiculous argument.
The evidence is that Jennings is on the field and Harris isn't. If Brandon Harris had a better grip on this offense he would be on the field.
You said he wasn't on the field because he couldn't hit the side of a barn. Then you denied criticizing Harris. In what tangible way can you show that Jennings has a better grip on the offense.
