I think they may have been in if undefeated. Makes me wonder why Houston doesn't get the same love. Let me preface by saying that I do NOT think Houston deserves a shot at the BCSNC....however, I don't understand how the media isn't giving Houston the same love they would give Boise if they were undefeated. Is Houston's schedule really that much different than Boise? Houston UCLA (PAC 12 South Champion) North Texas LA Tech (Beat Ole Miss) Georgia State UTEP East Carolina Marshall Rice UAB Tulane SMU Tulsa Southern Miss (Conference USA Championship) BSU Georgia (SEC East Champion, about comparable to the Pac 12 south) Toledo Tulsa Nevada Fesno State Colorado State Air Force UNLV TCU San Diego State Wyoming New Mexico
Certainly you can't be arguing for Houston after putting up that schedule? BSU's schedule is twice as tough as what Houston went through. At least they played Georgia and TCU (both top 20). If Houston had just scheduled someone like an Arkansas or Oklahoma and beaten them, then they would be in the mix to play in the BCS CG.
This was Boise's chance...and they blew it. Many would put them ahead of Alabama to avoid an all-SEC game and/or rematch.
Pretty sure if you read the post I said I don't think Houston dserves a shot. Just pondering what the media would be saying if Boise was undefeated and on the outside looking in.
Although I would've hated for it to happen, but if there was a year where they would've gotten in if they went undefeated, this would've been the one.
Just to reiterate the point about the schedule, Sagarin's ratings has Houston's schedule at 111 and Boise State's schedule at 51. So yeah, twice as tough is pretty spot on. Houston doesn't get the consideration because this is a first for them and they haven't beaten anyone of substance. Let's see them string together a couple 10 win seasons and beat a couple BCS bowl teams along the way first.
