You can only ride that pony for so long.

GDP Data Revisions Show Steeper Recession and Unrecovered Economy - Economics & Research

And it's way down from July.

Fact: We are out of neither. Call me when it happens.

There's a new sheriff *cough Tea Party cough* in town.

We are in our 60s. Our recovery time is short.

So why did you say "The stock market is WAY up from 2008" in defense of Obama?

There's been a lot of water under the bridge since 2007 (when Dems took over Congress). You cut Bush no slack for the events of 9/11 which played a large part in future expenditures. He played the hand he was dealt, yet you consistently defend Obama because he was dealt a bad hand. The Tea Party will change Washington. Get ready for it because most voters will agree by the time this Obama debacle is over.

    Agree.

    Disagree.

By what measures? Worse off than two burgeoning unfinished wars, the worst recession since the great depression, and Osama bin Ladin loose? :insane:

Another fantasy. The democrats wanted affordable small loans for poor people to buy houses in poor neighborhoods. That was never a problem. The problem came after 2000, when the republicans deregulated the program and banks starting loaning huge amounts of money to affluent people who could not afford the mini-mansions that the banks convinced them that they could afford. Republican deregulation was the tipping point in the housing crisis.

The wars are all on Bush. The recession is all on Bush. Bush's deficits are on Bush. Obama's deficits are on Obama. The national debt is shared.

You're scaring me, Red. You have clearly been O'doctrinated. You are Nero, fiddling away while Rome burns all around you. Emperor Obama is naked as a jaybird and you are praising his outfit. The day will come when you will just silently slink away having no more talking points to throw out...2 wars, Bush's recession, GDP is up, blah blah blah. Give it a rest. Americans can see where the policies of the present are taking us and we are not happy.

I can ride it as long as its standing.

1.3 to 3.5% GDP growth may be disappointing, we would all like to soar out of the hole instead of crawling out. But it is POSITIVE GDP growth which is NOT a recession by any definition of recession.

It's a little down from July and still WAY up from the recession.

We are out of combat in Iraq already and due out by Christmas unless Iraq asks us to stick around for more non-combat duties.

There's a new Gilligan on the Island.

    I am 55, Methuselah.

To emphasze the rebound that you seem to have forgotten.

Get it right. I commended Bush and never once criticized the war against Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and was a political blunder of the first magnitude. Bush's own unfunded mandate Trillion-dollar Health Plan had nothing to do with 9/11. Bush's unfunded mandate for "No Child" had nothing to do with 9/11.

And you consistently bash him while consistently defending Bush. So what? Worse, you lump Bush's deficit spending in with Obama's and blame the entire debt on Obama. Worse still, you have credited Obama with nothing whatsoever, not even stepping up the missile war that is gutting Al Qaeda, the end of the recession, OR the death of bin Ladin.

At least I credited Bush with his campaign against Al Qaeda and for establishing the largest marine wildlife refuge in the world. No sir, it is you that has a single-minded determination that everything Obama does is bad, especially if it is good.

The Tea Party has turned Washington from a "get little done" government into a "get nothing done" government. That is NOT the change that people are looking for. They want a government that works.

Incidentally I commend you for actually debating an issue instead of tossing off a quip.

That was only the initial salvo. Tea Party or no Tea Party, you are delusional if you think significant, or any, cuts would have been made prior to the debt ceiling being raised. Without the Tea Party, it would have been bumped with no discussion about where all this spending is taking us. The bleeding has to stop and the remedy has to be started somewhere. This was it. No more out of control spending without a fight. Deep cuts will hurt, but it has to be done. Finally we are beginning to see a few legislators who have the balls to do the tough, dirty work. There are more on the way.

Get your head out from under Nancy Pelosi's skirt and look around. Go ask your neighbors if they are better off today or before they knew who Obama was? Politicians and talking heads can take the exact same numbers and spin them to mean totally different things, but Joe working hand doesn't need charts and graphs to tell him which direction his finances are heading. You have to search long and hard to find anyone that thinks this country is heading in the right direction under Obama or that their lot in life is improving.
