Is LSU ONLY selling tickets to season ticket holders, or are season ticket holders getting first shot and buying all of the available tickets?

Check Ebay closer to the start of the season, there will be plenty of season ticket holders that are willing to sell their tickets. These usually are not too expensive. I bought in section 408 for the last 3 years. The guy I buy from doesn't want to give up his tickets but can't make games because his son is heavily involved with athletics in High School and they travel a lot. I am a TAF member but will not buy until I can get tix in a section that I want. Until then, this works for me. I am only going to be able to make the App state, Alabama, and UGA game this year. I sold the others last week and made the majority of my money back, so it works out better for me financially. I start tix on Ebay at 20 bucks above face value and let the bidding frenzy take place.

Buyers set the market, not sellers

    Three thoughts.

    1. Scalping is illegal whether it is on Ebay or outside the game. Nobody likes scalping. If the cops would bust more of them, it might help. But it's the worlds second-oldest profession and it ain't going away. There is a market out there for people who have disposable income.

    2. On the other hand, when someone buys a ticket he owns it and if he wants to give it away or sell it, that legal and it's great! Otherwise people who had to miss games would leave throw the tickets away instead of getting them in the hands of someone else.

    3. LSU gives season ticket holders priority for an obvious and very good reason. They earned them. Be LSU for a minute. Here you have a guy who pays for 4 season tickets a year for 20 years, contributes to TAF every year, comes to games in bad seasons and good season, and follows the tiger on the road. Over here you have a guy you've never seen before who is excited that the Tigers made the playoffs and is outraged that there is not a playoff ticket saved for him. And over here you have a ticket broker who wants as many playoff tickets as he can get--as cheap as he can get. He won't buy games with low interest, just the big games please.

It's a no-brainer. LSU takes care of it's season ticket holders, as it should.

They get first shot, but they sold out to them for the regionals, so I assume it will be the same for this weekend.

    From lsusports.net

There is no info on the site about when/if tickets will be made available for the public

Yes I understand that from that point. But I am beinging to sense something far more sinster at work.

Its possible that the broker themselves ARE the season ticket holders, are members of TAF with no intentions of EVER making the games, they just buy up as much as the can because they have the means.

Does LSU not have a responsiblity to make sure that actions like these are not happening.

I'm not sayng dont take care of the season ticket holders, I am saying something needs to be done to clean up the process.

What if it was JayB making this argument, instead of me. What if he wanted to go to the Super Regional but couldnt afford the ebay prices but could afford it if LSU would sell booklets to the public, would he be
This is a problem for everyone, I never noticed it during football because I cant AFFORD football tickets the normal, legit way.

But with alittle saving I could AFFORD baseball tickets, and because I cant afford season tickets does that make me less committed to this team? Hell I watch their games on a computer when provided or I listen on the radio. And for football I cant afford to take my family to the games but I am out there EVERY single weekend tailgating and showing my support the best way that I can, does that make me less of a fan or the guy that is just waiting around for the post season?

Don't you think that LSU just anticipated the season ticket holders would buy all of the available books for the Super Regional since they did so for the Regional?

I mean I get your point scalers suck.

There is a guy in my office who registers for new football season tickets every year and gets them since he has tons of TAF priority points Every year he turns around and sells them all on eBay. It really pisses me off since there are so many people out there on the season ticket waiting list.

I've emailed everyone at LSU I can think of about the problems with ticket scalping and people stock piling season tickets. The generic answer I get is that they don't believe there is a problem and if there was that there is nothing they can do about it.

If they are only selling to LSU STH's then it's those folks who turn around and sell them to brokers. It's the same thing with football tickets out here. The best seats in the house are available ONLY to support group members. Over the last 6 or 7 years that area has gotten larger and long time non-group member STH's have been forced to either join a group or lose their tickets. At this point, no more support group memberships are available unless you just want in without the option to purchase tickets and no new STH packages are available. That's USC maximizing their revenue.

Brokers typically and unknowingly sell primo tickets to bandwagon fans with cash who come to games but complain about the lack of entertainment, don't stand up, don't cheer much but they will boo. Hard core fans get angry because they either don't get tickets from being priced out, get tickets but not very good ones, don't like it when the wine/cheese group sits on their arse all game.

red put it really well. Buying the tickets gives the person options and opportunities. If there's a season game I can't attend I will sell my tickets at face to either a fan or friend (I always include my parking pass for free)..........unless it's a BIG game or blowout. I am not traveling to the Virginia game but as a support group member I was able to buy tickets which I plan to sell for a small profit. I also had tickets to the 2006 Rose Bowl. I paid $150 a piece for my pair. I sold them for nearly $3,000 and that was average.
