Why not? I'm asking cause I hear that a lot but where else in society do we not get as much as we can when selling something. Not trying to be contrary, I'm really curious cause I hear that said a lot in reference to ticket sales.

Is this something that only exists with sports tickets . . . Anyone?

If I own a grocery store and have LSU fans as patrons, should I sell them groceries for what I paid or can I make a little profit? Tell me where it's different- I'll guess cause it's not our day job but seriously would like to hear some reasons.

    Baseball fans.

Ever hear that LSU baseball fans are a different breed than the rest of LSU fans?

I would bet that most of the people this past weekend that had extra tickets sold them from between $10-$15, depending on what they thought was face value.

I offered $20 a ticket for mine, and he laughed and said just the $20 was fine for the pair (right after a scalper wanted $125 for a pair).

Actually I never have. So it's more of a respect/courtesy type of thing among our fans? Pretty honorable.

I've never understood how scalpers walk around the stadium and don't get caught. I'm almost positive it's illegal to scalp outside the stadium but have witnessed scalpers trying to get outrageous prices and also have witnessed potential buyers getting VERY upset after speaking to them and walking away in a tizzy.

EVERY fan of EVERY sport/entertainment event feels the same way. I've seen this same argument played out on plenty of forums/boards.

The way I see it, season ticket holders shell out the full price (also known as increasing their options) regardless of whether they can attend ALL games or whether the season turns out poorly. When the Tigers were strugging in the first half of the season, was anyone offering to compensate those season ticket holders? Of course not. It's a risk. And now that things have turned around, they are benefitting from the reward aspect of their initial investment.

The price they are selling will either be met, in which case folks should be just as angry at the willing buyer, or it won't be and then the seller will have gained nothing (or very little). It's a simple case of supply and demand.

Personally, I never look at buying tickets as an "Investment". It's just the opposite for me, I it's recreational so I don't mind paying more than the other guy did, within reason which is where it gets blury and relative.

I see a difference between season ticket holders and the single game purchasers. Much the same for individual seat licenses at various stadiums/venues. At The Pond for example (TB, it's hockey talk now, close your eyes), Ducks season ticket holders get first choice to purchase tickets to all other events/concerts. They then turn around and list them on e-bay for HUGE profits.

Those people attempting to sell for outrageous amounts probably won't do well, as it should be. Those who ask for a reasonable amount will do much better without raising too much hair on the neck. But asking a STH to sell their playoff tickets for face just because they are a fellow fan isn't going to have much success either.
