No game is ever officiated perfectly. There were some bad calls, and also some stupid penalties on our part. Didn't see a hold on the Neal play; doesn't mean it didn't happen. Don't remember the Harris play, and yes, illegal formation is often called. There were bad calls in the game, but the team for the most part has to own what happened today and correct it.
Drops, penalties should be correctable, but when they happen year after year after year, you start to wonder if they are or not. Blown coverages, sloppy tackling, poor coverage by the linebackers again, and special teams sucked. It starts to sound like excuses after it's said after every other game, every season. Did I mention 5th string JV QB?
said it before the game. this is how these uninspired games usually go. ohio st had one last week vs NIU. they arent too hard to figure out prior. its when you're playing a conference rival and struggling is when theres a real problem. thats when the team is focused. not road games 11am vs 5th string qbs.
And OSU was at home for that one. Maybe as fans we need to temper our expectations. These are 18-20 year olds that we're pinning our hopes on!
On the brighter side of things, LF7 just went against the 2nd (or 3rd depending on who you ask) ranked run defense in the nation and ripped 244 yards and 2 TD's... Had it not been for penalties, it would have been close to 350+ and 3 TD's... That dude is money.
Good point. I can pretty much accept most of the physical mistakes, but damn we had a ton of mental errors. I guess that's what got my BP above normal.
Agreed. It was just way too many. Some of the calls were BS, but too many were legit. I don't know how you correct it.
ohio state has an entire schedule of wake me up after games. couldnt remember the last time an lsu team and player had so much overhype after 2 games. fournette was labeled the best rb ever by many--may end up that way. and this team could beat the '85 bears and '04 patriots combined. this was just a little dose of reality for everyone involved. you need a strong and deep dline to win it all. we dont have that. but we can get close.
