Yep, we've had at least 3 TD called back on penalites. Probably more but that's all I can think of off top of my head. Also another ton of big plays that would have lead to TDs called back. Very, very undisciplined.
Yes Syracuse is better than expected. They had a 5th string walk on JV quarterback throw for more TD's against an SEC defense than our quarterbacks have had in any game in the last 2 seasons.
Was the hold that negated his TD a legit call? I missed the replay because I was too busy bitching about the penalty. You never know with Ritter or his crew.
I didn't see a replay on the no helmet play, but was Neal held, and of course, not called? Also, how about Harris getting tackled when already OOB and nothing called; and on the "late hit" called on the SU QB, he was still CLEARLY in bounds. On the penalty that negated Fournette's TD, is that routinely called? It didn't look egregiously bad to me.
Well, we honestly don't need to many other people to beat some of these teams. In fact, they held LF7 back.
I'm not sure what "excuse" you think anyone is making. No excuse for 14 penalties, but that's something that is correctable. You said the special teams play was the worst you'd ever seen at halftime. I agree. We shut their return game down in the second half and scored a special teams touchdown in the second half. Obviously we had a correctable problem. Like I said in the game thread, this game was much more meaningful to Syracuse than it was to us. And I think you made the comment that you hope Syracuse will continue to play well for the rest of the year. I couldn't agree more....it will just make a 10-point road win against a big 5 conference school look that much better for us.
