Assuming Marsh leaves which is safe to say at this point, we have 5 spots left to reach the 28 but with the possibility of Washington and/or Adams counting back we could have up to 7 spots left. We won't take that many though. I say we take 4 more no question and possibly a surprise 5th.
Bhelm, whats the word on gray shirts? I just counted the depth chart on Dandy Dons site and it looks like we are sitting with 70 scholarship players right now. We cant have more than 85 on the roster in August. How are we maneuvering around this number crunch? We dont have near enough room to bring in 25 new players unless we dump about 10 that are on scholarship now.
I see 2 or 3 on that chart that may be walk-ons, we will have some attrition, maybe a non-qulaifier/sign and place, maybe a grayshirt, etc... All that makes my head hurt though.
I didnt consider the couple who could be walk-ons. Still going to be a major numbers crunch and nightmare getting to the 85 in August. It will take some juggling by the staff to make it all work.
The 85 scholarship limit has to be responsible for most of what Dandy Don was talking about a while ago...don't you think? I imagine that these transfers were how Miles made room for incoming classes. 1/13/10 5:50 am CST Good morning, Tiger Fans. LSU football fans are still trying to figure out what happened to the LSU offensive production in the 2009 season and I have heard just about every reason possible. I went back over the last four recruiting classes and discovered that 23 of the most highly recruited prospects never did enroll at LSU or left before they completed their second year to transfer to another school. The most noticeable among these was Ryan Perrilloux who left in January of his sophomore year after several run-ins with the law and LSU coaches. Among the 23 players were: six offensive linemen (Phil Loadholt, Steven Singleton, Zhamal Thomas, Mark Snyder, Jarvis Jones and Matt Allen), and four defensive linemen who left early (Slidell Corley, Kentravis Aubrey, Charles Deas, and Ricky Jean Francois who only played one season before leaving for the NFL). Among the other signees who left without contributing to the team are DeAngelo Benton, Tim Molton, Phelon Jones, Derrick Odom, Jason Teague, Mark Snyder, J.T. Lott, Jordan Corbin, Andrew Crutchfield, Troy Giddens, Steve Korte and Antonio Robinson. It appears at this time that the 2008 and 2009 signing classes are not going to have nearly as many defectors. In my opinion, losing so many signees, for whatever the reason, has played a key role in the team's lack of production, especially on offense.
