With Goodell possibly putting a rookie pay scale in 2011, we could lose a lot.

As you know, Rookies are being paid huge amounts of dough. They are unproven, and can cause headaches if they don't pan out, aka bust or if they holdout. I have no link, just a rumor that Goodell is looking at a rookie pay scale. IF that happens, we could be hit pretty hard in this years draft. His a look at our top Srs. And a look at JRs we could lose.

    SR.
    Brandon Lafell WR
    Ciron Black LT
    Charles Scott RB
    Keiland Williams RB
    Richard Dickson TE
    Jacob Cutera MLB
    Perry Riley OLB
    Chris Hawkins CB
    Harry Coleman LB/S
    Rahim Alem DE
    Charles Alexander DT
    Tridon Holliday RS/RB/WR
    Lyle Hitt OG
    Chris Mitchell WR
    Al Woods DT
    RJ Jackson WR

    These are for sure gone.

Here's a look at the JRs who may jump ship
    WR Terrence Toliver
    OT Joseph Barksdale
    S Chad Jones
    LB Kelvin Sheppard
    DT Drake Nevis
    CB Jai Eugene
    DE Pep Livingston

If this were to happen, we would be hit hard we would lose
Our starting RBs, WRs. Total Linebacker core, Both OT, Our Dline. TE, OG
we would keep. One starting S, One Starting CB, Our G and C
    Just a look...

We wouldn't be the only ones being hit hard by it. And after it is instituted, there will be some kids that would have left for the big money that now may be more inclined to stay because the money isn't as big. Its something you can't control so why worry. Just like in basketball, a lot of the kids are just "going" to school because they can't be drafted right out of highschool anymore.

We will lose TE, One CB, 2 RBs, One OG,2 WRs, 2 DL, 1 LB due to graduation anyway. Never underestimate some players need to stay for their senior season and their desire to regardless of NFL money. We have a very talented LB core that will be getting PT next season. We'll be ok. No worries mate.

I honestly don't see any of those Juniors you referred to leaving after this season, mainly because their play hasn't really warranted even first day consideration. Granted it's a long season, but still.

Most notable on that list is Chad Jones. He's made it no secret that he likes baseball more than football. I think if he leaves early it's because he got drafted in the first round of the MLB draft. Otherwise, he sticks around to finish out his baseball eligibility, I think.

    well remember two things:

    1) erveryone will be hit hard

    or

    2) not as many will leave due to so many guys declaring. meaning guys will be afraid they won't get drafted or get a team to sign them. the pool will be pretty dilluted.

    it'll work itself out.

though out of those jr's you listed i'd worry the most about chad jones and nevis.

This has been discussed the last couple years. I think its going to happen at some point but once its announced I bet there will be a long lead time before its implemented.

When this happens, it will be a good thing. A rookie pay scale has been long overdue in the NFL. Everyone wins in this situation except the rookies, but it has gotten ridiculous.

Even if the juniors stay that is a heck of a lot of senior talent going away.

toliver could wow with measurables and performance at combine. but other than that i dont see any others getting in top 3 rds. particularly since the draft will be flooded that year.

in general, i'm more optimistic about next season than this one. the D will be no worse than this season. the O will be better because JJ will improve---toliver leaving would be the biggest concern, especially since the team doesnt use dickson anyway.

SR's are gone anyway, NFL or not so I don't see how any change regarding how the NFL pays them makes any difference whatsoever. JR's who leave early are studs who are going in the first couple of rounds. The only one on that list that I think has a sniff of being drafted in the first 2 rounds right now is Jones.

As was said, this has been discussed for a while now especially since Goodell has taken over. I think it's a great idea. The key is whether the NFLPA will go for it. The ranks are split; some of the vets what to see the rookies make less money initially and earn more through performance. Some are just all for any player taking more money from the owners. I think any changes in rookie contracts are a ways down the road. Bigger issue at the moment is getting a new CBA in order to avoid a lockout.
